http://www.autospectator.com/m...d=831General Motors Corporate - GM Reports 309,375 Deliveries in February: New Pontiac G6 and Chevrolet Cobalt Achieve Best-Ever Monthly Sales; Small Utility Vehicle Sales Rise 85 Percent Led by Chevrolet Equinox. . .Additionally, there were several bright spots in GM's car sales: The recently introduced Chevrolet Cobalt continued to achieve solid sales with its best-ever sales month (up 5 percent over January). Aveo deliveries were up 36 percent versus last February. Pontiac Vibe sales rose 24.5 percent compared to year-ago levels, and GTO sales increased 63 percent. And yet, overall GM car and truck sales were down significantly! Quote »DETROIT - General Motors dealers sold 309,375 new cars and trucks in February, down 12 percent compared to year-ago sales. GM's truck sales (179,390) were down 8.5 percent, and car sales (129,985) were down 17 percent. It is cash and financing incentives, (or lack of incentives), or is the popularity of smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles like the Vibe legitimately increasing???

GM likes to compare a particular month's sales to the same month in the previous year, but I don't know if that really matters. There's probably some marketing science about what time of year people buy cars that adds some value to that comparison. Feb 05 sales were up from Feb 04, but down slightly from Feb 03. So far 05 is a better year than 04 was.

Someday the Big 3 will realize that the working Joe can't afford there prices. One of the appeals of the Vibe is the value a good vehicle for a somewhat reasonable price

Anyone have data on how the Vibe has been selling versus the Matrix?

However, that chart doesn't tell you WHICH Vibes are selling. It doesn't say if those #'s are strictly 05 models or if they are mainly 03 or 04 models. I wonder which is selling better right now. I would assume the 03/04 as they can be bought used vice new. Hmm, I wonder....

desert_dweller pointed out that my table was wrong, in setting upthe sum for each year, I had included the year in the sales figures. Thanks to desert_deweller, and to me I fixed the table, should be ok, the numbers are for new vibe sales, a compilation of monthly press releases on media.gm.com, most of them as posted by NSimkins. in
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7726 and on the page.I had posted end of year totals in
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=7726 wrong, based on the same error that desert_dweller pointed out, so I edited that post to correct them

I believe joatmon's numbers are for new car sales through Pontiac dealers only. While there may still be some new 04's on the lots, but I doubt there are many new 03's still around.

Same for Matrixes.

The Side-Impact airbags are 3X the price then SIA for the ION sedan for example. Why is this?

http://www.pontiac.com, and did a quickie search on '04 Vibe Bases, AWD's and GT's. There were at least seven AWD's, way more than a dozen Bases, and at least ten GT's in the mid-central US. (IL, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania)

Vibe sales are up 14% from a year ago. 'Aussie' GTO sales are up an astounding 64% from a year ago!G6 sales are indeed up, but STILL selling at a slower rate than the Grand Am did a year ago, AND the Grand Am is STILL selling at a current rate of 8,600 cars a month in April!I'm attaching the full GM April sales spreadsheet just for grins... Car Deliveries are on Tab 2GM press release and spreadsheet link -->
