was looking over my sales contract for the vibe and i noticed that i got dinged for a 75$ gas guzler tax. any other vibe canadians get dinged for this. i think i got scammed.

Was your's a GT? The GT gets slightly worse MPG. My base Vibe is categorized as an Ultra (or was it Very?) High Efficiency Vehicle. The Gov't should pay ME $75 for not buying the 15MPG pickup I was considering.But I'll bet they don't.

it was a base vibe. 75 freakin bucks for one of the best fuel sippen(non hybrid) 4 bangers out there. pretty sick darn liberals. i wonder what lets say a cadalac escalade pays in gas guzler tax?

I checked my invoice, no "gas guzzler" tax here (Sask). Other horsepucky charges (doc fee? What, am I paying for someone to load the printer?) but no gas tax. Just another grab from the dealer maybe? I'll still blame the gov't thou.... Just seems right.

I bough mine (base) in Quebec and there's no gas tax in Quebec.

I think this is a Provincial tax. Quebec owners didn't paid this taxe. Could be tax only in Ontario?

Sub Vibe.......I agree when I took ownership the last week of October...I did not pay this extra fuel tax!

What gives? I was charged the $75 "tax for fuel consumption". Are some Canucks charged and others forgotten? I expect that we are supposed to be charged the $75 to make up for income tax cuts or some such thing. I think you're right about the Ont. thing. Seems like the only ones reporting they'd paid it are from.. yup. Ontario. That sucks! I thought Cretin (sp? ha!) only hated the guys out west...

I thought it was federal. I'll look into it further next time I harass my dealer about the 6 month wait for my VIBE.

I confirm that I was charged no gas tax in SK .... must be something about a lack of smog out here
