so i recently upgraded my old palm (actually handspring) with a new dell axim x50 (made the switch to windows mobile). it has built in wifi, but i don't have a wifi network in my house (yet).so i turn on the wifi just to test things out, and there a 5 wifi networks going through my living room!! 4 of which are unprotected!so, i am posting this via my PDA while sitting in my living room using somebody else's wifi network!(how amazing!)genvibe shows up decently and the forum is one of a few i've tested that doesn't create problems with the scaled down browser (good job genvibe site crew!)just thought i'd test and share!

Isn't that cool! I have done the same thing with my X30. I can pretty much go anywhere and use other people's wireless networks to connect to the internet. It's a wonderful thing!

I have an X30 as well and use it when traveling or to do some quick web browsing while around the house. They're a pretty cool toy to have around.I agree too, GenVibe displays nicely, especially when switching the mode to landscape.

I've got a Sharp Zaurus 5600 that I've cruised GVC on a few times. The bottom slides out to reveal a tiny keyboard, that comes in handy! This site looks pretty decent in Opera too...I'll hook up my compact flash modem to it later on, and dial up to the 'net to get some screenshots.

Oh yeah! Typing this from it right now. Love this thing! Any PDA you can drop to a command line and do stuff is a big plus in my book. Love Linux, and am very happy to be able to take it with me. We're a strange breed, spoonman... Not too many own one of these gems. And it looks like Sharp, who didn't do too good of a job with marketing these things in the first place, has ended Zaurus sales in the US. noooo! *sigh* What could have been! If anything ever happens to this thing, I 'll just order a Japanese model from an importer (someone like these guys: http://www.dynamism.com/pda.shtml) where the Z is still alive and well. I'd love to have one of the c3000 clamshell models with the hard drive. $$$ but these PDA's do more of what I need than their cheaper MS/Palm/whoever counterparts, mainly in regards to hooking up with the other linux machines on my network. Plus the built-in keyboard - tiny, but I'll never own another PDA without one! The cost though, is more than many notebooks, but a notebook just isn't the same. I love this thing! Unsupported, not much stuff out there for it... But I find this oddball handheld is the perfect one for me. And of course, back to the subject at hand... see attachment!

wow, i didn't know there were so many other PDA-ers out there on this site!hey bluecrush, ever use WifFiFoFum (i think they should get award for that name!) to search out networks? It's great! this is cool...it's like learning something really cool about somebody you've known for awhile!maybe discuss good programs for tracking milage, etc. for the vibe...turn it into a PDA-Vibe topic?
