03GT, you are getting hosed!Inder, the place that you're talking about is called PolyPro. I LOVE that place! It's like 2 minutes from my house. I go there about once a week durring the winter. It's a flat $5 for 25 minutes of washing and you get a bucket of junk with some towels and cleaning products. We should do a mini-meet there sometime.

When I had my Vibe aligned after putting on the Tein S-Tech springs, the alignment shop classified it as an SUV and charged me about $5.00 extra. I didn't complain as the price was still almost half of most other garages.

I going to try and find it, I would rather wash it myself anyway. (I like the heated part)I think I know where to find plymouth & telegraph! Thanks.I'm up for meets, after I fix the few dozen paint chips on the frontend.

Man, that's a ripoff! I don't like people telling me that my car is anthing but a station wagon... Throw that SUV word out, and I get just a wee bit angry.

I bet GM wishes they could call it a truck, like they did with the Pt cruiser. That would really help out there cart!

Do you mean the CAFE? I wouldn't be surprised if GM does get to call the Vibes "trucks" for purposes of their fuel economy averages just like the PT but I think that the govt might have changed the rules so neither the PT nor the Vibe can qualify anymore.

yeah, it definately is CAFE, for those that don't know, that stands for corporate average fuel economy. Some cars can be classified as trucks if they have removable seats that allow for more cargo room than passenger room. YES YES, I know, the seats fold flat, but the key word is REMOVABLE. I worked with the EDQ&E (energy drive quality & environment) group at GM, and they are resonsible for CAFE studies among other things.

I guess I didn't realize that the Vibe back seats were not removable. On my old PT I removed the seats a couple of times for hauling some big stuff. I got my Vibe when GM gave me essentailly an extra $2,003 rebate resulting in a net of about $13,700 for a $18,700 MSRP (no tradein) so that was a real no-brainer. Otherwise I mght have been in a new PT. [Traded the PT later on a T&C Van.)

I haven't had that problem, but I can guess why. Is your vehicle an SUV by Michigan Reg...In NY, where I live, a VIBE is classified as an SUBN, which means SUBURBAN, which in NY, means SUV. I believe it has something to do with the semi-vertical hatch which classifies it as such in NY. So I wonder if the car wash has to charge by the VIN Registration Data in Michigan

I actually whipped out my title to show the local wash that it was a station wagon. They gave me the normal car rate.

My insurance paperwork says it's a wagon, too. A "small wagon" to be exact.
