We built over 50,000 Camaro SS and Firebird Firehawks for General Motors since 1993. We have just opened a performance hood division and our first Plastic Composite, Functional Ram Air hood is ready. It has crash initiators for frontal collisions and baffles for water intrusion. What do you Think. Please pass it on to your members. It is ready to sell and is in Canada. Group purchases are preferred.Me: thanks for the e-mail! that hood looks pretty nice, and it sounds like it's been designed as well as an OEM hood. my forums are down for maintenance tonight, i'll post it up tomorrow. do you have more information on cost of hoods, and cost to ship within canada and to the states?also, if it's functional, what is the function? the air intake is on the driver side of the engine compartment...it looks like it could help send air to cool the exhaust manifold like the oem hood scoop on the Toyota Celica (same engine and layout), but it's a little further up. did you modify the airbox in some way to redirect the air into the intake? or are there runners to direct air to the back (exhaust manifold)?also if you could get the weight of it in relation to the stock hood, that'd be great.SLP: The hood is functional ram air to the original airbox. We have a special filter, gasket and all you have to do is cut the hole in the box. it closes airtight. the baffles are in place so there is no water intrusion. we also designed weak spots so the hood crushes like an OEM. the HP gain has been 7 HP on a dyno with the GT engine. but we have changed the filter. we need more time to find the best filter. I have about 8 different ones coming for more testing. the hood weighs about 5 pounds lighter. due to the OEM construction, it is a 2 piece hood with all the right hardware. Any info on price? This looks really good, but gotta know the price .BTW, it took me a while to find the "reply" button on this post. Since the IMGs are wider than 1024, the "reply" button scrolled offscreen to the right. I think you might want to consider that a website bug (maybe have auto-resized pics?)

This is the Ram-Air hood I've been waiting for.Not the little dinky one on the GT-R.

it's almost $1000 CDN (~$700 USD?) that's a bit pricey, but it's a true ram-air setup, and can't even properly be dynoed. no dyno fan is gonna replicate the amount of air forced in with that hood closed and at higher speeds. although considering their reputation and times of cars with ram-air setups at the track, it'll certainly be a nice gain.it should theoretically give at least as, if not more power than a CAI at higher speeds. the CAI sucks in a lot of cold air at higher speeds, but this is supposed to be shoving the air down the engine's throat as fast as it can take it.there's also a new pic:http://www.matrixvibe.net/files/vibehood/vibe4.jpgi think it looks really nice in black GM Canada is supposed to be sporting these hoods on all their vibes at auto shows

Is that $700 for the part, no shipping? I imagine shipping and painting can be considerable extra expense. I also noticed that the winshield sprayers don't look as prominent as they do on the stock vibe. Does this hood affect the windshield sprayers at all?I am really interested in this one, but if they really want to guage demand, we need to know details like this.

That looks Sweet! Problem is that it goes to the stock airbox, which restricts air like a mo-fo. A 7hp gain is nice, but it could be made better. Heck, the GT-R ram-air gave it 10hp! For the price...I'll stick with a CAI, but who knows....

i'll pass along your questions and the only thing that really restricts the air in the stock airbox is the paper air filter and it's location, not the actual box itself. the diameter of the intake piping is the same as any CAI.their 7hp was calculated from a test air filter. hardly sound enough for a comparison.

I've been doing a bit of research on ram-air in general, and something that concerns me is sucking in dirt. Does anyone have any feelings on this?

latest update:I am working on it. I need 5 people to be around that price, maybe a little less. 5 guys to step to plate. One of the distributors in Canada can sell 1 at a time for $1200.00 Canadian. You have to figure out shipping but it comes in a box.so for 5 people, it's $1000 CDN not including shipping and installation/painting.who is so far at least somewhat interested and would be able to buy if the interest develops?and BTW, nothing has been removed from the final version, sprayers are fine.

What's that in US dollars? If it can be shipped to the US, I'm interested.

Nova is the only one that wants a hood? This is a awesome hood and a pretty good price. I'd get one but don't have a Vibe yet. More future mods.

I agree, wrong time of year for this kinda stuff!!! I think Feb - April will work out better! Tax returns you know....Don't know if anyone asked this yet but, will it come painted the factory color of choice?

See previous post. The price does not include shipping, painting, or installation. You'll need to figure an extra couple hundred bucks for that on top of the price. I still think it's a great deal for the price. It looks great and the performance should be similar or better than a CAI.

I would love that hood i was dying for one for my old Grand Am before I got the Vibe, i would have to see what happens after the holidays/

If nothing else, the Ram Air hood should improve the performance by taking 30 lb. off the front end! The stock part seems to be a real Lead Lid!

yeah i would get me one of those hoods, i was one of the first one's on the site askin when they were comin out so many months ago. but alas, i am in college and therefore broke.i would like one tho..anyone....wanna help a brotha out?yogi

Anyone hear any new info about the SLP hood? Is it available to the public yet? Who do I call to get one? Final pricing?
