If her insurance is covering it (which it sounds like it should be) let the dealer do it. They'll use OEM parts, and have all the right tools and materials to do it.

I've had body work done at 3 different GM dealers. 2 were excellent and 1 was terrible. They left the whole underside of my rocker panel with primer only. No paint, no clear coat. I didn't notice it for a couple of days. They fixed it but it was an inconvenience. So after the work is done, look it over very closely before you drive away.

honsety, it doesn't matter if you take it to a dealer to get fixed or not, the thing to do is find a shop that you know and trust to do the work. When my vibe got wrecked i took it to a little shop that i knew and i knew they would do a good job. the pics are here
http://www.cardomain.com/id/dj_vip3r. The good news is that the damage to your vibe seems to be rather easy and non intrusive to repair. I know in the U.S. you have a legal right to not only pick where your vehicle is repaired but how it is repaired and with what parts. I did that with my car. I chose my own shop, i chose to overrule the insurance company and have new sheet metal welded on instead of bondo and i chose to have a brand new wheel, new trim and new rear brake parts installed instead of 'refurbished' parts.

There's no way to know how extensive the damage is. While the outside doesn't show excessive damage, you never know. I was rear ended in a parking lot once by a delivery truck who wasn't watching what he was doing when he backed out of a spot. Outside showed no damage, dealer found pretty significant damage inside though...

POLO get the insurance to fix it. It not your fault so you are not responsible. Is it a hit and run? I am not sure if I read it right. Bring it to the dealer and let them repair it. Boisvert Pontiac has a good body shop and so does Royal Chevy.Bonne chance mon ami et appele moi, envoye mon un IM, ok?

I was`nt in the vibe,my mother was there, but she is the second driver in my assurence. When the accident happen my mother was in shock, was the first accident she have in maybe 40 years. So the moron have right on the paper that my mother and she was in move in the same time, but my mother was immobilise when the moron go rear to hit the vibe, the little word(move on the same time) maybe can change the story, maybe the assurance will say is 50/50 responsible. My mother in shock didn`t see at the moment and sign:crook: In our family,we don`t have lot`s of experience in this kind of problem, becauss we never have any sort of accident,,,

Most parking lot accidents are considered 50/50. That is why I drive around them rather than through them whenever possible.

SAME thing happened to me in a parking lot last summer. Some idiot didnt' wanna wait in line so he slammed it in reverse and didn't look. I was at the time backing out of my parking spot and was just shifting into drive and BAM! Insurance wouldn't cover it, didn't make police report because no one told me what to do so I'm stuck with a banged up bumper (which doesn't matter anyways because I got hit like 5 more times soo now I HAVE to get a new one.

No Sam,i was very busy, now i have 2 days free,so i will try to solve the problem very soon. Before to fix,the moron who wrote the paper have lied. Now,i try to give pressure to the moron to tell the true at my insurance. If it remaine like this is 50/50,but if she say the true she become the responsible. At the last call,i sayed to her can you put your hand on the bible while you talk,to prove you saying the true, she refuse. Now i have big dilemma,i give to my dealer he estimated 1270$ to fix,or i know lots of independant bodyshop by my family.Maybe if i give to independant bodyshop he can higher the estimation,so i can avoid to pay the first 250$ to my insurance. And,maybe i will ask them to paint the cladding to transform to monotone,i will see if it`s possible or not. What my dealer refuse to try to do.By the way,the director of the bodyshop of my dealer is a italian,a good friand of my cousin who have a bodyshop garage is italian.I didn`t know the italian`s where a bodyshop expert.
