So while out on the canal I decided to try the Garlic and Cheese Beavertail. It was good. But didn't seem like a real beavertail. So I went down to the next Beavertail concession and got my favorite - cinammon and sugar. Oh man, oh man it was goooooooood.Whats everyone's favorite beavertail? And does anyone outside of Ottawa know what I'm talking about?

I was thinking something like an elephant ear. Then I read the part about the real beaver... *gasp!*I was gonna say, while it sounds mighty tasty, may even taste like chicken, but I'd have to pass on one... Unless they have a soy version. LOL! But reading this on the link provided put my mind at ease.... *whew!*Quote »"The region's contribution to Canadian cuisine is the BeaverTail, a doughy delicacy that looks like a flattened zeppole and tastes a bit like a funnel cake smeared with jelly and maple syrup."New York TimesNow, a pizza beaver tail - yummy! Garlic and cheese sounds mighty tasty too!

You just can't go wrong with a cinnamon and sugar beavertail! They're are just one of those things that you can't miss while in the Ottawa region. Some nice weather down there this weekend, eh Sputnik? The Canal was a little mushy, but it was wonderful not having to skate in circles!!!

Yeah sunny, but a bit cool compared to earlier in the week. The canal was closed for half the week and just reopened on Friday.

Nope, we don't have it down here. Sounds decent though. Of course, as far as I know (and I know my pastries) we don't have beaver tails either.

First cut the tail and blistered over a fire until the skin loosens. After the skin is removed, the tai flesh is boiled in a large pot of beans. You could also boil the carcass for some yummy soup.

LOL, I am so pumped to see someone else knows about these. My dad owns a construction company, and he just built a beaver tails franchise for a family friend. It is in Tobermory Ont. I haven't had one yet, but other people seem to think they are pretty good.

The only beavertail we get around here (Indiana) is the road kill variety... actually though, I think it's mostly raccoon and opossum.

Oh man now I want one. They have a shop in the mall... I should go for a visit. The cinammon and sugar is my favorite. Tried the garlic and cheese on the canal this past winter. It was okay but I prefer the sweet to the savory.

Now I'm hungry too.I think we need to arrange a Group Buy for those of us South of the border.

Is "Beaver Tail" the only name these things go by? They do look really good! Never seen anything like it until now. I wish they had stuff like that down here in CA instead of the usual donuts and other delectible confections.I wonder if they can be shipped? Do those things spoil easily? Now Nutella I am familiar with! Goes really good with peanut butter on an Eggo or toast. Ahhh now I'm getting hungry...
