Dodge to show a Vibe clone?

Looks like a Doge version of the Vibe to me.From The Car Connection today: http://www.thecarconnection.co...=156 A concept car from Dodge will take the stand at the Geneva Motor Show - and likely will appear in U.S. showrooms in early 2006 as the replacement for the Neon sedan. The five-door Caliber concept is a striking hatchback with global intentions; Dodge says the vehicle is what it's planning for worldwide markets as the Dodge name is about to be brought to Europe. The concept sports the crosshair Dodge grille atop a C-segment chassis that's shod with 19-inch wheels. No powertrain has been announced but Chrysler officials reference the coming range of global four-cylinders as potential powerplants for a production Caliber. Dodge's planned introduction into the European market is scheduled for 2006. The Geneva show opens to the press on March 1.

It doesn't look half bad... I really like the larger wheels, that looks good. The Magnum is kind of ugly, IMHO, but this looks interesting.

It looks like they slapped their universal nose onto a Vibe.. That nose belongs on a truck or magnum, not on a hatchback like that (Yes, I'm aware Magnums are HB's, but it fits their hersch styling).

Ok, a Hemi in that would be sexy. 5.7L V8 Hemi with AWD

It will most likely be my next vehicle since I have to drive a Chrysler, Dodge or a Jeep and I do not get paid to drive a loaded 300C with a Hemi! I actually like what I see. There will be three engines to start all naturally aspirated and top will be a 2.4L 170 HP (not the current 2.4), turbo will probably debut the year after.

I like it. The head rests are cool, I think the grill is a bit too big for the front end.

Put a fuel effecient turbo diesel in it and I will buy one! We really liked our 95 Dodge Neon, handled great, 38 mpg, lots of interior room and it was inexpensive to buy and own.

I see a lot of different cars in that vehicle. The Vibe's silhouette, the Magnum's front end, the Durango's tail section, and a Lexus RX300 spoiler. It looks like a Vibe on steroids. If it is comparable in size and price with the Vibe I might have to switch...no stop I can't think like that.

Yeah, still a Dodge. lol! I think it would be much better if it weren't for that damn front-end. I'm just not a manly enough man to appreciate all the muscular looks that dodges have these days I guess. Looks otay on trucks, but it doesn't go over too well for me on cars, for me personally. So, did I read that right that they're killing off the Neon and replacing it with this thing? Yet another 4-door sedan dies in favor of a hatchback/wagon type vehicle. Kinda like, um, Pontiac killing the Sunfire sedan leaving the Vibe as the cheapest vehicle.... That sucks for those wanting a small 4-door that isn't a wagon/hatchback/whatever.

Dodge puts their truck front end on everything now, hoping their trademark look will sell the car. The front is just plain ugly, and unoriginal. Sorry but this car just looks like a lame rip-off. Being a dodge, I'm sure it will have a more powerful power plant though, which will attract buyers. But how long will a dodge powertrain really last....2...mabey 3 months? The new dodge was just fine until Daimler did the whole hostile take-over deal. I don't like german designs and I never will.

And Toyota is cancelling both their MR2 and their Celica lines. The Matrix will be their only semi-sporty car around till 2007, and they sell their $100,000 Supra

My impression is that Toyota moved the functionality of the Celica platform to the Scion line with the tC: 2-door sport hatchback, more moderately priced. Lots of potential for performance mods with a 2.4 liter base engine.

I don't care for the front end, but then again I don't particularly care for the Pontiac Nostrils they put on every car, but owning a Vibe I am used to them. The last Dodge I owned had over 250K miles on it. The auto tranny was rebuilt under that nice 7/70 warranty (why does GM only trust their cars for 3/36?) Would still be running today if Bambi hadn't suicided against it.What's with those black bumper things up the A pillar and along the sides of the roof? That copper color is quite trendy, everyone is using it now.

lowering springs, dual exhaust, better wheels, and do something with the grille , and throw on some flames, ?

make that front grill smaller (or cover it with your thumb on your screen) and the car could EASILY pass as the new small Volvo hatchback version of the S40 (or the hypothetical S30?)...the rear tail-light with the 'ledge' above them and the front headlights make it look quite a bit like a Volvo...

I hope they release an SRT version of that. Vibe functionality coupled with SRT-4 power would kick (removed)!
