Car Wash Ripoff !?!

Post by Yoda »

Went to get my car washed at the same place as always. Guy there tried to charge me the "truck/van" price. I explained to the guy that I always pay the "car" rate for a deluxe wash and had already done so 4 times with my Vibe. He explained that the height sensors in the apparatus treated it like a truck, so he had to charge me the truck price. I told him that was a load and I wasn't going to pay the truck price. He offered to send me through for a basic wash at the truck rate since that was the same price as a deluxe car wash. I actually made two people back out and left yelling about what a ripoff the place was. They probably thought I was a cheapskate, but I figure if nobody complains about it, they just make up whatever policies they want. I'll go somewhere that recognizes that my Vibe is a small vehicle and doesn't really cost anymore to wash than any other car. Have any of you run into this?

I agree-He is full of CRAP--- Show him your title and it is classifed as a station wagon and not a truck. I would find another car wash. James

Whats a compact car parking spot? Is it different from a regular parking spot? Is it like that ad for the Toyota Echo and it parks in a spot for large vehicles only? Seriously, before that ad I'd never heard of such a thing... I thought the ad was a joke, but maybe not?

In many parking garages there are some spaces that are in fact labelled 'For Compact Car Only'. It is usually a small spot on a curve, in a corner or on the end. That Toyota ad is stupid as I've never seen a spot labelled for large cars only. What would be the sense in that?

Well, at least you're still laughing about it - I think I'd have been tempted to find some overhead signs on the ferry to vandalize just so I felt like getting my money's worth. I'm going to go back to that car wash next week (should need a wash by then again) to see if I can file a formal complaint with the mgmt...
