Today, as I returned home, then stop at my mail box, I stumbled on a chunk of ice that ripped-off the front LHS mud guard (done at very low speed).Nothing is broken, put I will like to replace the plastic nail that secure the mud guard on the LHS wheel body cladding (I still have the two screws). That plastic nail (approx 1" long, #10 to 1/4 in diameter, the shape of a Pine tree, get trapped by expanding into a hole) has a large head and are the same type that secure plastic trim panel or other applications. Now, my Pontiac dealer didn't have a replacement part, except by buying another mud guard (he show me one, that look a bit short, I doubt it will grab by more that one or two spines after it pass thru the mud guard & the rubber spacer needed in that area).I went to Canadian Tire, but no luck, only small plastic nails for door trim.I could possibly put back the one I have, hoping it will stay put, but if someone knows where I can find such a plastic nail, I prefer put a new one (they are meant to be used only once, really).P.S.: Maybe UAP (United Auto Parts) or Fix-Auto (car body shop). Thanks in advance.

FWIW, trim nails are designed to survive a certain number of removals and re-fastening, so you could probably just use the one that pulled out. People who pull off door panels do it all the time.Do you have Pep Boys in Quebec? They usually have quite an assortment of plastic trim nails.Another thought.... I know that Home Depot and Lowes here in the US have a wide variety of fasteners in their hardware aisles. There are SOME plastic fasteners there, but I can't say if one of those would do the trick. They are mostly for home appliances, which sometimes use fasteners similar to automotive ones.Good luck.

I'm in the same boat. My splash guard saga continues. And we've definitely gotta get you fixed up there bud, you went through hell to get those splash guards in the first place, didn't ya? I ended up losing one of the xmas tree type fasteners and the rubber bushing that goes with it. Not to mention some of the bolts for them (which I was able to snag those at Toyota.)I bought a new set, so that's one way to get the plastic fasteners. I swore up and down that they came with the bolts I lost too, but they didn't. But dog gone it, when I went to put the new ones back in, I was having trouble getting the plastic fastener back in on one of 'em! So, I grabbed my ratchet and started hitting the stupid thing, thinking it was just being really difficult to get in the hole. But apparently, I missed the hole completely or something and broke the stupid thing. So, I have one splash guard just being held on by the two bolts, nothing underneath. Like was mentioned above, PepBoys has tons of these things! I'm going to check with them tos see if they have it. If you don't have a PepBoys around, perhaps if I find the right fasteners there, I could send a couple your way or something... I'll keep you posted, and if I have any success and you're interested, let me know...And raging, unfortunately it doesn't look like any of the above. I still have mine (in some fashion) - it's halfway broken, but I'll grab a pic of it.

Here's a pic of the part... A rough guestimate, but I think proably somewhere around 1/4 of the length of this piece is broken off. The end of the fastener comes to a point. I'll cruise by PepBoys when I'm out goofing off sometime over the next couple of days and see if I can find a match.
