Should I switch oil weights on my Mobil1?

Hey guys...just a quick question. My wife and I recently moved to Hawaii back in August. The temperature here "dips" into the mid 60's at night in the month of February. Currently, my GT has 48,000 miles and I use 5w30 Mobil 1. With the warmer temperatures and the higher mileage, should I switch to 10w30 Mobil1? Thanks for any info.Jim

I dunno... I just switched to Mobil1 and the dealer used 10W30 in my base, although I would really have preferred 5W30... Hasn't killed it yet.Since it doesn't get too cold for you down there, you may be OK with it. But I'd say stick with the 5W30 just to be on the safe side.

should be no need to go with 10W30stick with the 5w-30 your temps are pretty moderate year round.where as some parts of the country very dramaticaly more. may need a diferent weights for extremes in seasons...

The normal four seasons - all out of order - and Thundersnow... 3 Months of swealtering heat, a 2 week fall season, another 3 weeks of heat, then 3-5 months of cold. Sprinkle in some odd ball 60 degree days in there with drops to 0 at night during the spring, and then start all over again.I swear synthetic is almost mandatory. AS for keeping on Topic - Stick with the recommended viscocity. I have 136k on my Durtech powered Contour and it runs synthetic 5w30 Mobil1, doesn't loose a drop and keeps the engine nice and quiet.

stick with the 5w30, your weather is constantly wonderful, 5w30 is the correct viscosity in your engine for your climate.Aloha
