Quote »GM Making OnStar, Stability Control StandardGeneral Motors will ante up in the safety game by 2010 as it makes its telematics OnStar system and stability control standard in all its vehicles. OnStar, the in-vehicle communications link, will come first to all GM cars and trucks, by 2007 according to the automaker. GM says that stability control will be standard on all its trucks and SUVs by 2007 as well, though cars from the company will not be universally equipped with stability control until 2010. Other automakers-incuding Honda and Ford-have committed to equipping their vehicles with stability control and rollover protection as standard. GM says that OnStar will be free of operating costs for the first year, and $199 for a year's service or $16.95 a month after the initial year.

I wonder if GM's implementation of standard OnStar and Stability control will end up with the same fate as Standard ABS on all GM vehicles...

Yeah, standard until the competition kept offering cheaper base price models without it...
