Anyone have a car lift in their shop/garage?

I hope to order a car lift for my garage in the near future, but still undecided which one to order. I like the idea of the 2 post lifts because it unloads the suspension for easier working, but I think the 4 post lift would be more practical. You can always jack it up and put it up on jackstands on the 4 post lift to get the suspension unloaded if needed. The 4 post can be easily moved from one location to another in the garage easier also.I'm thinking of one of these:

Not owning a personal hoist yet but can see myself owning one eventually... kinda need a garage first haha... I'm partial to ones that lift by the frame. Used them all the time when I was a lube monkey when starting into the car industry before making my way up to service advisor. Drive on ones are easy to use, but for those with lowered cars, sometimes the ramp elevation is to steep. Plus when you have the car up in the air, you still need to lift it off the hoist to get the tires off.Decide which one is best by what you plan on doing with it most. Think you'll have the tires off a lot? Then get the one that picks up the car by the frame so the weight is off the suspension/wheels. If you just wanna get under the car, do oil changes, exhaust work... nothing requiring the wheels to come off much, go with the drive on.

I'm envious even before you get it, cc!I do have a friend with a 4 poster. It worked great, but in short order his car collection overran his garage space and it now is used only for vertical storage...

Quote, originally posted by MadBill »it now is used only for vertical storage... That would be another plus for the 4 poster, being able to use it as a double/decker for storage. It would be easier to work on the vehicle with a 2 post'er though. Decisions, decisions.

Either one to me and yes I am envious too! We sell Challenger and Rotary, nothing you can drive under though since dlrs do not use those. Most we use at two post, once bolted to the floor are just fine, less room involved.
