Hey what's up guys? I'm new to the forums...I like the site a lot! Anyway I'm trading in my '98 Frontier for a 2003 Pontiac Vibe which is Salsa Red. I'm not too fond of the color and was wondering what it would cost me to get it painted another color. If anyone could give me some estimates that would be great! Thanks,Gabe

Welcome to the forum. . I would say about $600 for a decent paint job. But if you really want it to look good, I would suspect something in the $1000 range. Inder

If you're paying less than $2000, they likely aren't painting your door jams/etc. This is definitely an area where it pays to know someone, since its an all-labor job (materials are cheap).- Ryan

If you don't like the colour, why don't you shop around for a different colour. There are plenty to choose from and factory paint is usually better than any paint job you can get. Some would say the '03 Vibe paint is a little fragile, which has lead to much discussion on these forums.

NYAHH!!!Salsa's the best color!!! Don't do it!!! (Unless you're gonna' go bright orange. Then it's OK.) Aside: Hey, remeber Envy? Holy smokes, what an ugly color! On the website it looked like a cool Olive, but in person it looked like pea soup the second time around! ~ Z600

Yes, there has been one recently on Ebay, but my Lotto tickets havn't paid off yet......

Had I known this I would not be driving my Vibe right now! That would be awesome. I don't know why they don't make all the 2ZZ models in auto as well.

YES!They made them! The autos didn't survive even an entire model year before being discontinued...I see one at the local meets all the time...And i double checked, the auto vibe GT did exist as well.

It isn't going to be cheap... You could get it done for a very low price, but like what was mentioned, if you're changing colors for cheap, they probably will neglect all the little details - insdie the doors, hatch, hood, etc...If you're looking for a custom color, and have the cash to get the car repainted, the Salsa Vibe may be the right thing to get. But if you're just liking one color more than another on the Vibe, I'd say expand your search and try to track down exactly what you're looking for. It's probably not going to be easy, I think it's hard enough searching new car inventory in one particular area just to find that one car that's right. And I'd say used cars would be even more difficult to find what you're looking for. But I'm sure it's out there somewhere!Welcome aboard, and we look forward to hearing how things work out for ya!

I agree with CP, it will not be cheap to have it look good. Painting all the door jambs, under the hood, basically everywhere the Salsa is now, then wet sanding the clear and buffing to a fantastic shine; thousands for dollars. In fact I would stay away from painting it altogether... The paint on the car is not the greatest but compared to an average body shop it is probably better. The paint it baked on and unless a body shop stripped the paint entirely off the metal it is not good to paint over existing paint. If done so, you will then have too much paint and it will crack, chip be too soft and just not last as long. IMO, do not do it... Forgot, welcome too!
