Are you asking because you can or can't hear them on yours? Or are you asking if it exists?Either way, the only ticking I can hear from the engine bay seems to be coming from the air filter area.. one of the devices in that area seems to make a ticking noise when the RPM is at an idle.??

I don't think it's the valves your hearing. It's probably the fuel injectors opening and closing. On every fuel injected car I have ever owned I can all ways hear the clicking when the hood is up.This is very normal and nothing to worry about. The clicking noise coming from the air cleaner area is most likely the purge valves. There are 2 of them that are connected to either the tubing of the air intake or the filter box it self. These valve are used to suck in air or release exhaust into the air intake for emmisions purposes. They suck in and blow out at different times and at different RPMs.

I noticed that same ticking sound from around the air box also. It seems louder around idle. I wasn't sure if it was normal, but I guess it is. Thanks for the info.
