I just installed the Silverstar headlights, foglights and front turn signals. I was a fairly easy process. It took about 30 minutes to uninstall the stock bulbs and install the new Silverstar's for the first time. It would be dramatically less the next time knowing exactly what to do. I love the look from the front of the vehicle. The look from the inside of the vehicle is very nice as well. It is a brighter, whiter more spread out beam of light, where as the stock bulbs are a bright, yellowish and more direct beam of light. I also found a $5 mail-in rebate coupon on Sylvania's website. Unfortunately, "next time" is likely to be sooner rather than later! A number of GenVibers have Silverstars and love the light output, but not the bulb life. I did have to slide the battery over to get to the driver's side for the headlight and the turn signal. I was planning on keeping the receipt based on the bulb life listed in other threads.Brian

Silverstars were sweet...But HID is even sweeter!

HID is pretty expensive, isn't it? I could probably buy Silverstars for the rest of my life for what HID costs, couldn't I?Brian

My conversion (heads and fogs) ran me abotu $850...Expensive, yeah.But they virtually NEVER burn out...so, it's a one time cost.

I just bought a set of the parking lights. I found the rebate coupon attatched to the recipt:) Just sent it in the mail this morning.

I did notice, that the fogs last longer than the headlights. I had one fog bulb that lasted a little over 2 years.

I figured that the fogs would last longer than the headlights due to the fact that the fogs are on only at night while that headlights are always on.Brian

This is true, but I'm talking longer in general, I think it may have something to do with the smaller bulb creating less heat.

I've got a 2005 and my fogs are always on.Is it normal.thanks

Disable the DRLs and your headlights wont be on all the time. My sivlerstars lasted 8 months because of that I might swap out the driving lights fora set of projector fog lights.

They should only come automatically on when it gets dark enough.But they would be on all the time if you have your lights turned on during the day.

I don't think it's been proven that DRLs have a significant effect on the Silverstars or not, but on the headlight bulbs, average time between failures is about 8 months. The foglights in mine are still going strong after 1.5 years. I switched to HIDs in the headlights, and I believe those were around $300 (I managed to trade Mike for 'em, thanks Mike!), his good ones were what, 400-500? But, you'll probably never have to change them. If you do, it might be once. That's worth the money for the better lighting and less frustration than new bulbs once or twice a year. Especially at around $20 a bulb.

Especially at around $20 a bulb.As we all know, I did a full-out head/fog HID conversion, and that cost just under $900...I believe by the end of 2005, the HID's will have paid for themselves by what I HAVEN'T spent on silverstars!
