I guessed the name before the page loaded, and it was a good idea to cancel it out... But nonetheless, Tsunami suited it well and changing the name is going to cost them their shoes.

you know, they had that name planned before the tsunami. its a shame that people are over sensitive and would probably whine to toyota for using that name. sure, its a tragedy and my heart goes out, but damn...

Probably wouldn't sell too well in Malaysia.

but you have to take into consideration the magnitude of the catastrophic event that occurred. I'm not saying that an avalanche isn't small beans, but when you name a high performance car a tsunami, and then see an unforseen number of humans perish in a tsunami, it kind of makes you think that the biggest natural disaster isn't a great name for an automobile. just my .02

I don't think it makes light of the situation at all. Someone made a good point about the Porsche 911...9/11 didn't even come to my mind when thinking of A 911, nor would I expect a manufacturer to change its name out of sympathy. I think doing so is a way to BOOST their PR, making it look like they sympathize with the situation. Mind you, I'm not saying that they don't, but I bet Toyota just boosted interest in their "ex-tsunami" Celica by pulling the name. Just look at us talking about it...Now, had Toyota come out with the name AFTER the Tsunami, then yes, you could say they might be using it as some twisted form of PR. Then again, I wouldn't think "tsunami" when looking at a Celica GT-S, so I guess they could have drummed up a more applicable name in the first place. Considering it's Toyota of Canada, maybe they can call it the Blizzard or something.
