Quote, originally posted by Automobilemag.com via GMInsideNews »"Saturn's version of the Pontiac Solstice, the Sky exhibits the new face of Saturn, which will add a mid-size sedan and a large crossover sport-utility to its lineup over the next two years. Aimed at the Mazda Miata in price with dimensions close to the pricier and slightly bigger Honda S2000, the sub-$25,000 Sky gets a 170-hp, 2.4-liter Ecotec four mated to manual or automatic five-speed transmissions and near 50/50 weight distribution. The Sky comes in early 2006, and we expect a Red Line version to follow. We're wondering what sister division Pontiac thinks of the supposed budget-brand Saturn becoming more performance-oriented" Large size versions of the above, as well as additional sky pictures, available at: http://photos.ragingfish.com/SKY

Having spent money for the product earlier advertised, i'm much cleaner now.Anyway, man..that looks hot, for sure. Now, we just need a supercharger for it to push it closer to the 2001 S2000 rated 240 HP engine, and i'll be whippin' the (removed) of a guy at work with a '01 S2000. ::grin::

Quote, originally posted by Saturn.com »With future design plans, the SKY is the limit. : The Saturn SKY, that is.On November 29, 2004, Saturn unveiled the new design face of the brand with the all-new SKY roadster. While Saturn simply leaked a sketch and the name of the new roadster, the message is loud and clear -- this is a Saturn to watch for.For several years Saturn has experimented with designs that demonstrate a new, bold design philosophy. It started when the original SKY concept vehicle made the rounds on the auto show circuit back in 2002. Although that design was not meant for production, it certainly raised some eyebrows. Last year Saturn unveiled the CURVE concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. CURVE was based on GM's global Kappa platform that included the Pontiac Solstice (which will begin production in June 2005). The CURVE too was just a concept, but nevertheless the handwriting was on the wall: Saturn was changing in an exciting way. This time it's for real. The Saturn SKY roadster will begin production in early 2006. As the sketch suggests, SKY delivers a bold and refined design. Taut lines and flowing surfaces wrap its design body around a classic, aggressive stance. The dynamic front end is tucked between two rising front fender beaks, with a lateral chrome bar that showcases the red Saturn badge. On the inside, Saturn has maintained the unique, human-focused touches you know and expect from the Saturn of late -- tight fits, ergonomic simplicities and attention to detail. But you'll see a more dynamic interior approach as well with the new vehicle. While we can't give away the farm until the official unveil in January, trust that SKY will deliver on the quick, nimble performance character that true roadster enthusiasts demand. The Face of Saturn Is ChangingWhile SKY pushes the limits for Saturn design advancement, it by no means signifies the end all, be all. In fact, it's just the beginning. With its debut comes the launch of an all-new design philosophy that will become the benchmark of an expanding family of Saturn models. The design cues you see in the SKY sketch will be carried across all of the future models as the brand expands its product offerings from the current three models to a full six-vehicle family by the end of 2006.Fact is, the Saturn family in 2006 will look very different than it looks today, and you can thank the Saturn SKY and its new precision look for fathering the transformation. But Saturn loyalists take note -- all of this hubbub is strictly in the design arena. You can always expect the same friendly no-hassle philosophy from your Saturn retailer. It's just that as 2006 draws near, you can expect an expanded family of refined and dynamic Saturn models to go along with it.Stay Tuned ...There will be more to admire in the coming months. The actual production vehicle will be unveiled in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and the Los Angeles Auto Show. At that point there will be more information on Saturn.com, including vehicle performance specs and detailed product images. We might even give you a glimpse or two of what these exciting design cues could look like on a mid-size Saturn sedan.Saturn promises this -- when you walk through a Saturn showroom at the end of 2006, you may have a hard time believing these new models are from Saturn. Our advice is this: Believe.Welcome to the future of Saturn.See the Saturn SKY at the auto shows listed below.Los Angeles Auto Show January 7 - 16, 2005North American International Auto Show (Detroit) January 15 - 23, 2005Houston Auto Show January 28 - February 6, 2005Philadelphia International Auto Show February 5 - 13, 2005Chicago International Auto Show February 11 - 20, 2005Cleveland International Auto Show February 26 - March 6, 2005Milwaukee International Auto Show February 26 - March 6, 2005St. Paul & Minneapolis Auto ShowMarch 12 - 20, 2005New York International Auto Show March 25 - April 3, 2005Denver Auto ShowMarch 30 - April 3, 2005Atlanta International Auto Show April 9 - 17, 2005Dallas Auto ShowApril 13 - 17, 2005

Honestly, I think it looks better than the Solstice. Having seen a Solstice at the SDIAS, I really didn't like the front end. This was looks much more agressive and stylish to me.

I like it a lot, but it looks like it has Viper headlights, with a Trans Am lower and a Crossfire rear end......but all those styling cues are blended really well........

GM better built it just like that and the Saturn Aura 4-door too! Save Saturn, they had better build those two cars!

As I was getting close to work this evening, something turned off the street and into a parking lot... It looked a lot like a Solstice but certainly wasn't. Then it hit me, "damn, that's a Sky!" It looked great, this particular specimen was black.Looks like somebody got lucky, it had a temporary tag on it. I didn't know they were out yet, but looks as if they must be.

I'd reather pass both up and wait for the Opel GT But yeah, I've been seeing a few Skys around here for at least a month, but it's really not unusual to see BRAND new cars, even concepts around here quite often. I saw solstices in camo with dual exhaust in November...GXP

Hmmm, well, the Solstice is just more, how do I say this, "feminine" than the Sky. It's like a mini-Jag. And you know what, my wife likes the Solstice better than the Sky. I'm guessing this trend will hold true for sales of both cars.Honestly, I like the Solstice better, although I'd replace the grill with a billet-style before I was seen in public with it.

Both are amazing cars but I kinda like the Solstice better after seeing both... The Sky looks more "edgy" and "modern" but the Solstice has more of that classic roadster sort of look to it which I have to say I think I prefer, especially from the front... I can't really describe it.But I couldn't ever have either one, so it really doesn't matter.
