Can't tune in Lower Radio Station Frequencies

I just drove my new vibe home today, and the lowest radio station I can tune in to is 88.7. This is a problem for me because my favorite radio station is 88.5 WXPN in Philadelphia. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a solution?

It's possible you have signal interference from another station...The Vibe has a built-in antenna amp, which your old car may not have. That amp could be increasing the strength of a signal that you previously did not know existed, which, in turn, is wiping out your beloved station's signal.Sad to say, I know of no solution. On a side note, welcome fellow Jerseyan! You're not too far from me!

Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Vibe!My '03 with the 6-disc changer can tune down to 87.7 - that's where I can pick up the (harmonic resonance, I suspect) audio signal of local TV station channel 6. I'd have the dealer look at it.

My 03's single disc goes down to 87.7 as well... Now, depending on the radio, I've seen some start there, some at 87.5, some at 87.9... But never as high as 88.7.Definitely something isn't right with that radio if that's as low as the knob will take ya! Perhaps that radio was destined for a country with different frequency limits for the FM band... Not sure if that's the case, but sounds remotely possible. What's the upper limit on the FM band? I'll check mine tonight. Now, if you *can* tune down to 88.5 but don't hear the station, then I'd go with what raging says - interference from somewhere... I happen to live in a very RF-polluted area, practicaly every radio station in the area has their transmitter directly behind me. In the house, with lesser quality receivers and antennas, I'm hearing the stronger stations echo all the way up and down the dial - sometimes even far away from the FM broadcast band when I'm flipping around the frequencies on my ham radio. (i.e. 106.9 was once heard on 200-something MHz with the cheapo antenna my ham radio came with!) But fortunately, the Vibe's stock stereo doesn't exhibit any of those problems - it locks in all of the stations just fine, only with the normal interference you get on adjacent frequencies. But if something isn't up to par with your antenna or radio, I can certainly see other stations taking over other frequencies...Do bring that up to the dealer, and have them compare with other Vibes on the lot if necessary. Good luck to you and let us know what you're outcome is!
