Why the 1st week? Because most of us woulld get out our special music for our special new car. For me it was a matter of playing what was also appropriate for my daily drive to work racing along the SanAndreas fault out here in calif.(see my post"The daily Vibe drive".)"Rush" has been my favorite rock band since highschool.Whose name seems to be a a mandate for me as i drive the Vibe . As I sped along the faultline that 1st week or so, Their songs like "Driven" and especially "Red Barchetta" were carefully and appropriately cued up as I flew along the faultline over 110mph!"...I stripp away the old debri that hides the shiny car, a brilliant red Barcchetta from a better vanished time.I fire up the willing engine responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel I comitt my weekely crime!Wind in my hair, shifting and drifting, mechanical music, adrenaline surge!Well weathered leather, hot metal and oil,the scent of country air. Sun light on chrome, the blurr of the landscape, every nerve aware!..."It cant be more perfect for my ears."Rush" is the vibe in my Vibe. How about you and yours?Good vibrations Faultline

The week before I got my Vibe, I made a CD of music for it! First song I played was by Dirty Vegas.

Believe it or not...it was the remix of "I love myself today" by Bif Naked that you heard on the GM Overdrive commercials. She gets my motor running...

At that time I just got a new LINKIN PARK, Hybrid Theory. I listen to this CD every day, all 12 tunes are great. It is now on my top five list, this list has been going on since 1974.

Judas Priest - British Steel (remastered)(this was the CD I brought with me the night I took delivery. "Pounding the world... like a battering RAM!")After that, I played Dead Kennedys' "Plastic Surgery Disasters," then tested some homemade reggae tunes of mine (for bass response).I played "Ride The Lightning" and really, really wished for the out-of-print remastered version. Don't remember much else...

Contrary to my nick and avatar I have not played any songs by the king. Ive mostly played trance and dance, and especially made sure I had a track called "scent of a rose" by 303 infiniti. I heard this track on one of the vibe websites when they use to have a webcast of a station called theiceburg.com when I was first looking at the vibe in june and made sure it was one of the first played in the cd player when i picked it up. Depeche mode will be next on the list since I have the car home now.

Just in case this thread peters out before my Vibe arrives ( ), the album I *will* be playing when I drive off the lot will be Diane Schuur "Pure Schuur", track 1, "Nobody Does Me". Great dynamic range, from quiet introspection at intro and fadeout, to really belting it out in the middle. I played it really loud when I test drove a Vibe to check out the standard audio setup. Made the dealer uncomfortable. Really looking forward to hearing the CD in my own Vibe.

In preparation of our vibes arrival my girlfriend and I are making a 70's Funk mix......... I'm still not sure how we came upon the idea, but rest assure if you see a vibe and hear "play that funky music white boy" it's most likely me.

In that case, be sure to include "Do It 'Til You're Satisfied" (by the B.T. Express), which I consider a must in any funk collection. Can't go wrong with "Fantastic Voyage" or James Brown's "(removed) Machine" either!
