loose Sunroof?

ok, i got a question for all - should there be a little lift to my sunroof? I mean like this: Sunroof is closed, and if I stand beside my car with the door open I can reach in and push up on the glass, it looks as it the whole assembly (glass, frame, seal, etc) will lift slightly. As if maybe there isn't a seal. Now it doesn't remove all the way but enough to make me think something isn't tight. Is that supposed to be that way? Any one know? I haven't seen or felt a leak so I am assuming it's ok but want to make sure...Thanks for the help!

I haven't checked mine but I would imagine it shouldn't be that way. I'll let you know if I remember to check.

I just went out and tried it on mine, and it moves a little tiny bit, but I don't think its as much as you're saying. I'd go get it checked out by the dealer

how much is a little, spideymike?i just checked mine, and it lifts maybe an eighth of an inch, and that was with a fair amount of pressure. the seals all stayed in place, so i'd say it's ok.does anyone know how long these seals are suppose to hold up? i've never had a sunroof before.john

i would guess it's not much more than that - and eighth of an inch. I suppose, based upon your responses that it's probably fine. However, next time in the dealer I'll mention it just to see.

How did you discover this anyway?

well i noticed that my windows seemed to fog up much more than normal. I suspected a leak. Put my hand up toward the sunroof because I recalled hearing others complain about a leak there. I just happened to left a little and noticed the movement. Good news no leak but i still cannot figure out why my windows fog up so much when i see other cars not even fogged...oh well, I'll either find it or die trying!!

Yeah that happened to me too. Went out to eat last night, all the windows were up, sunroof was closed, and went in the restaurant to eat. Came back and got in the car and the windshield was fogged to hell...?

I don't think my roof moves that much, haven't really tried pushing on it. I would say some flexing is necessary to keep the glass from shattering, but not sure. I've had several moonroof-related problems with mine, but not this particular issue... As far as the moisture goes, I've got some issues with that as well, but have never been able to find the source. A good list of things to check on these cars can be found in the below link...http://service.gm.com/gmtechli...tory1
