I have been thinking a lot lately, should I mod my GT or just put the money toward a faster car. Well, I made my decision last week. The GTO is fantastic. It's faster then I imagined and will be a fun summer car.

Kind of. I can buy on the employee plan and there was a $5000 rebate on the GTO. GM credit card holders also got a $3000 bonus towards 2004 GTO's, SSR's, and SRX's. So with my earnings and bonuses, I was able to lease the GTO for 2 years (24,000 miles) for about $145 a month with nothing down. Not a bad deal for 350HP, huh?

>$145 a month? Man, if I were able to land that kind of deal, I'd be tempted to take it even if for joyriding purposes!!

Actually, I get a multi-car discount plus another discount for having my homeowners thru the same company. Since it is a pleasure car I pay less then $1200 a year for the insurance on it.

Jeez at $145 a month, they're just about paying YOU to drive it, aren't they???(Waiting patiently for 'Kill' stories to appear in the Racing forum and 'Kill' stickers to appear on the driver's door...) LOL

My mom got one on the same deal. Black on Black. Sticker was 34,300 she paid 23,400. Not bad now if I can talk her into the turbo kit for it.......

I would honestly like to hear her response to that one. Mom, you should get a turbocharger for your car. When really get on the gas and then get off the gas, it makes a cool BSSSHHHHH sound. LOLInder

NICE CAR! I love the GTO. I was debating on getting one, problem is, Rear Wheel Drive + Hilly Western PA + unpredictable snowfall + idiot drivers = a nightmare.

The GTO is for fun in the warmer months. It's a great car but not very practical. It gets > 20mpg and it needs premium. (My GT needs it too, but gets much better mileage ) The trunk is only 9 cubic feet (Vibe has 54 cubic feet) even tho its 18 inches longer than the Vibe.

Auto or 6-speed BTW?

I went with the auto for 2 reasons.1. It's just simpler. I'm leasing so I won't be racing or modifying it.2. I wanted my wife to be able to drive it if she wanted to.

Woah! You were actually able to find an automatic? I have yet to see any other than 6-speeds on the lot around here. Congrats on the new ride! I bet you'll get a kick out of that thing! Every time I go to the dealer to get the Vibe worked on, they try to sell me one... A $5K rebate isn't too shabby! If I was in a situation like you where I could have two cars, I'd love to get one just for giggles. But no, I can't - it would have to be my daily driver - not sure if that would be such a good idea for me. Have fun with it!

Well here last car was a grand prix gtp and before that she has a 86 monte carlo ss that my dad had dropped a 396 in so she's used to hp. I'm leaning to the STS remote turbo for it, we'll see if she likes the one I put on my truck.
