This just can't be normal.Does anyone else have a 2005 AWD with power package and the selt belt buzzer drives you nuts.Biggest complaint is when I have a passenger......like this morning...dropped her off and pull up, put car in park. When she unclips sealtbelt the buzzer starts.....( come on...car's in park.....!!!!!)We can't even sit and talk. This just cannot be normal.Anyone else have same problem?

Seems to be the way it's designed on the 05.

Yep, the new "Annoy the heck out of occupants to ensure seat belt usage" feature. I believe Ford was the one who started this mess, I remember hearing about some of their cars constantly having the chimes go off, and sometimes at random intervals if the belts weren't buckled... At least that's what I've heard..... For the times when you're stopped, I can see how this would be an annoyance, that's for sure. It shouldn't really bug you if you're in park, that's kinda cheesy. As they software developers at work say, "that's not a problem, it's WAD." (Works as designed.) lol!But sometimes these annoyances work out for the better... When I first got my Vibe, I took my ol' roommate for a spin. This guy never wore his seat belt... It was dark, and the obnoxious light flashing over there on the passenger's side actually forced him to buckle up. First time I've ever witnessed such a thing.

I just get the flashy light on the dash no sound when the seats are unbuckled...

Lots of vehicles now are using seat sensors to detect occupants and according to their weight, how hard to deploy the air bags if at all. Sounds normal and a safety device for you.

My 2005 buzzer buzzes and the airbag goes on when a person sits there. That is normal. But... It buzzes when I put my overstuffed work bag briefcase dealie there, but the airbag goes off. It stops eventually, but comes back beeping if the weight displacement changes, like I go over a dip in the road or something.

it detects weight in the seat... my suggestion is see if you can unplug it. Should be a wire harness under the seat somewhere... My 04 just has the light, no buzzer.

I would not go unplugging things due to my response from above... Unless the person is very, very sure. Chrysler, GM and others have this air bag system, we have done tools for both.

Sorry to bring up a very old thread, but does anyone know how to solve this without pulling wires? It does it when my dog sits in the front seat and is sooo annoying!

I buckle up my cargo to avoid this. Jug of milk, bag of birdseed? Safety first!
