Check Engine Light

I had the check engine light come on one day after I started a drove my Vibe for about 5 miles. The dealer checked it and said the gas cap was loose. (it was the first thing I checked) Of course, the light came on again the next day after the second start of the day. Now, they say it is a leak in my EVAP vent solenoid valve. Has anyone else had a similiar problem?2004 Vibe FWD, AUTO.

Not a to uncommon problem on GM vehicles, nothing serious and since they fixed it, your good to go. I've never had that problem with any GM vehicle I ever owned and thats all I have owned, but a few here and there have had that concern with a sticking EVAP valve letting to much pressure out of the tank.

Maybe I'll alert the dealership to this....of course it's the least of my problems.

Thanks for the feed back...The car is still at the dealer, so, the jury is still out on the positive fix...I'll report back in a week if the CEL hasn't come on.

well I don't think it will be related to the engine issue with yours. this concern won't change the way the vehicle runs, its mainly emissions control systems.

I had the same problem. Took them a while to figure out what the problem was, as it was the first time they'd seen it on a vibe, this was in Jan '03. Not had a problem with the fuel system since - except a frozen fuel cap door. Cured by levering on door with key while jiggling the lever!

i have had the same problem word for word try telling them to replace the vapor canister and clean out the vent and purge lines. if your dealership needs more info have them call Mclean (the blue team leader) at suttle motor corp. at 757-886-1800. that finally fixed mine let me know how it goes. they took five times to finnally fix my vibe gt

It has been good for 3 weeks now. The solenoid they replaced must have fixed it.
