His return to the new show had been expected early next year.On Broadway, the Bronx-born Orbach starred in hit musicals including "Carnival," "Promises, Promises" (for which he won a Tony Award), "Chicago" and "42nd Street."Among his film appearances were roles in "Dirty Dancing," "Prince of the City" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors."I'm a huge L&O fan and this is absoultely tragic!!!!

I was very surprised to hear this, last I heard he was supposed to recover. I really like Law & Order too.

This sucks for me because my dad has prostate cancer and I hate to hear of people dying from this. Jerry Orbach was a great actor and he will be missed.

i watch law and order several times every night! (seriously) he was my favorite character. >
