This process and pic should help...Remove the manual transmission shift knob, if equipped. Remove the center A/C control knob (3). Remove the screw (1). Using a taped flat bladed tool, gently pry and release the retaining clips which secure the front floor console trim plate (2) to the front floor console assembly. Disconnect the following components: The 2 cigar lighter electrical connectors The accessory power receptacle electrical connectors Remove the cigar lighter assembly, if necessary. Refer to Cigar Lighter Replacement . Remove the accessory power receptacle, if necessary. Refer to Power Outlet Receptacle Replacement in Power Outlets.

Well, there's only a backlit gear indicator on the auto. And I've yet to successfully remove the auto shift knob...And getting under the plastic then is still a pain.Your best bet is to take it to the dealer..I've ripped apart just about every square inch of the interior of this car, but have yet to be able to figure out how to remove the shifter trim...

[QUOTE=ragingfish]Yeah, I said that cause your instructions said remove the manual shift knob./QUOTE]Right and that was taken directly from the GM Serv Manuals and it is the procedure for the trim removal auto/mamual. The auto trans bulb replacement is either buried in somewhere or not in at all. Just a quick look is all I did and came up with that. Hopefully that will get him on the right track. Dealer LOL! At probably $60-80 an hour that would be an expensive bulb replacement. 300% markup on the bulb too... Not flameing you but the dlr rates.

Thanks for the info.It looks like a job that will probably not be done until the summer (if then!) as I'll be outside for a long time with numb fingers up here in Canada. Why wouldn't they make the thin plastic piece above the PRND21 removable and then the whole job could be done in 5 minutes.Simon

Brilliant :-)Thanks a lot. Great pictures. That certainly beats the hell out of the GM method!
