I got my vibe 1 hour ago......

I pick up my Vibe at the dealer 1 hour ago and came back to my job. I went to the gaz station (the fuel light was on) and I put $32 of gaz in it (at 0.783/liter). Wow. With my Montana, i used to put at least $40 or $50 and I'm sure I will make the same millage with a tank then my Montana. As my signature sez, my Vibe is a base, salsa monotone, 5 speed with power package. The driving is correct. I think the manual transmisson could be a little bit more precise. (sometime, I had some trbl to put it in 1st gear or on reverse). Maybe it is only because I'm not used to drive a stick (to be honnest, it is my 1st manual tranny) or it is just cause I'm not used yet to this transmassion or cause the case is not briken yet (i pick it up with 16km on the odo (10 miles))my girlfirend doesn't see it yet. I'm in a hurry to show my Vibe to her. I have to wait until 6pm and got stock in the traffic (the joy to live in suburbs)

This is the 2nd car I bough bran new and both had fuel tank empty. Most of the quebec dealers (except Chrysler) deliver cars with less then 20l of fuel in the tank.Another think I found on my vibe. I have to put the clutch very hard to the floor to be able to start the engine. I have be be very fimly to be able to start it.Anyone else has this? Is it normal or it is just cause I'm not used to drive it?

WOW you have to pay around .75 for just a liter of gas? We pay about $1.35 for a gallon= 4 liters. 4 liters divided by $1.35 is .34 cents in the U.S. Isn't that high in Canada?Maybe I'm missing something.

Here are some calculation to compare US and CAN gas prices.1.35 $ US = 2.10 $ CAN (based on today's exchange rate) or1.00 $ CAN = 0.643812 $ US1 US GAL = 3.78 LitersSo 2.10 $ CAN / 3.78 Liters = 0.55 $ CAN/Liter in the USA0.75 $ CAN x 3.78 L/usgal = 2.84 $ CAN/usgal2.84 $ CAN x .643812 $ US/$ CAN = 1.83 $ US/USgal in CANADAIt's still cheaper in the U.S. but not as big as you say. Don't forget exchange rate....

I figured the stomp-on-the-clutch-to-start would get a little easier with age, but not so far, 4000 miles. There is some soundproofing that almost prevents reaching the switch. I looked at maybe bending or shimming it but it looked less-than-simple and I don't mind it that much.My car was delivered full of gas (nice) but I suspect they put regular in my GT (not nice).

There should be a small switch located behind the clutch pedel arm, put a shim in there, or tape it down, that way you never have to do it. Just remeber not to try to start it in gear.

I'll try to shim it. But anyways, now I'm more use with it and it know it is normal. I was just wondering if my car was ok. Also for the 1st and reverse gear, it goes better evvery time. I don't know if it is because the tranny was not broken or if it just the way I was using it but now it works well. You know, we you bough something new, you want it in perfect condition.I love my Vibe and I'm very proud of my pourchase.

congrats Ben...its bad about the full tank thing.....I asked my sales guy....he explained that with the cost of gas that we pay and delivering 2000+ cars a year it would cost them to much.....but he was kind enough to put 15 dollars worth...we will have to arrange a vibe get together with the fellow Motrealers!

Sub-Vibe-R, I also found that my Vibe held nowhere near the amount of gas as my GMC Jimmy, but made it 20 miles farther on its first tank. The second tank did the same. The third tank took 299.9 miles to burn off, and the fourth did better! After driving that sluggish, gas-guzzling Jimmy for three years, the Vibe is a buoy for my soul.Er, forgive the melodrama.
