my cousin says that there was or is an AWD corvette available. i say no freaking way. he swears by it. i searched and searched and found no evidence of any existence of such a vehicle. so, every single person who has input on this, please post it (repeat or not) if i am right, i want to rub his nose in it!!

I have never heard of a awd vette. Although that would be the sweestest thing in the world, I doubt that will be possible. Why would an American automaker make an awd sports car! The whole point for a American sports car is for the rear wheel intense power that you get when you stomp on the gas. Yes, I know about the Dodge Stealth, but that was a Mitsu design.Inder

I've never heard of such a thing...Who would want an AWD corvette? You don't get a vette for it's snow handling capabilities...

Hell no man, never was such a thing. The only tires capable of haivng smoke rolling off of them have always been on the rear.

Every Vette has been/is RWD from the factory. The AWD Vetter he means must've been the one single one made by an accident on the assembly line which is also an "all motor with forced induction", right? (I had a friend try to swear to me that if you replace a FWD's rear axle with an axle from an AWD car that it makes the FWD car AWD. Smart, he is not.)

The AWD vette must have been the 1983.Only a vette owner would get that reference.

I agree that there never has been an AWD vette, but there have been AWD Porsche 911s. It makes for phenominal handling.

lol! 1983 was the year for the Vette. I've toured the Corvette plant several times (it's only a few hours south from here.) Don't remember hearing them say too much about the '83 AWD Vette, and since they didn't even acknowledge the existance of said Vette, one must be worth a lot of cash!

(tidbit for those who may be lost)...and that's because there was no 1983 Corvette. None were ever built for sale to the public. That's not to say that Chevrolet never built any 1983 Corvettes. Actually, 44 cars were assembled - all pilot cars that cost an estimated 500,000 each to fabricate.

But..You're all forgetting about the 1952 4x4 Corvette! It looked EXACTLY like a Chevy SSR!

I believe there may be one or two at the Bowling Green Corvette museum. I have not been to it, hopefully will some day! Oh and yes, there was a trailor hitch option once for a few years. I would have to find in one of my books from when to when but there was. 1970's I also believe, crazy 70's. Not that anyone but myself really cares, I will stop now...

As far as I know, there is only one 1983 vette in existance and that is at the museum. They had to pull production since it wouldn't meet emissions for that year.
