There has been two different 2005 models where I was at in Canada. One had the hood scoops, one did not. Hood scoop delete is an option. Could still tell by the exhaust, and the 6.0 emblems. We tried to find out who had them, but were unsuccessful. We wanted to take them out for a drive.

Oh, goodie, now it looks even more like a Grand Prix...It's still a very sharp car, more so than the Grand Prix, but it's got quite the name to live up to and it's not doing a very god job as far as it's appearance's uniqueness is concerned...

Can you say Holden Monaro? Been out in Australia since when, 2002? Finally, we catch up to the rest of the world! Been looking at these for a while now, the Holden anyways, and now they come out here when there is no way possible for me to afford one! Now if they would just come out with the Sandman and Utes here! That will be the day!

I have to agree with Merz. The HP rating is really nice, but that would be about the only thing that sells me on that car. I just really feel that the tame appearance just doesn't let the car live up to it's namesake. I'd be completely fine with it if they had used a different name for it. But I still probably wouldn't buy one even if I had the cash for it.When this version of the GTO was about to debut, I remember reading that this model was just GM's fill in for 2-3 years for a high performance car under the Pontiac nameplate. They were supposed to be designing an all new and all GM car that pays homage to the original GTO in looks and performance. THAT is what I would hold out for. Oh, would that ever be sweet!

Sorry, but this is more like what a GTO should look like to me:(this one looks almost exactly like the one my dad had when I was little.)There's nothing like the feeling of being repeatedly punched in the chest by the sound created when 400 cubic inches of one of these babies revs up and does one awesome burnout. And she's gotta have 4 on the floor with a Hurst shifter to help blast 'er down the track. I miss the racing days of summer .

Too many regulations and risks here I assume?

GM owns Holden. When it came time to resurrect the GTO, they looked at all the cars they had in their global brands...when they saw the Holden, it already had everything they wanted the GTO to be (minus the engine maybe), so if the Monaro had what they needed, then why would they create a second assembly line for what is essentially the same exact car as the Monaro? That, compounded with the fact the GTO is not as heavy a mover as say, the Vibe, means that it could easily be built in the excess capacity the Australian plant had...

Too many regulations and risks here I assume? That is what I was referring to by the fact that the same manufacturers (GM = Holden) build cool cars in 1 country and half-(removed) cars in others. I love GM, but I would love them a lot more if they built cars like the Holdens here in the US.
