I was watching the Speed Channel last night, and Motor Trend TV had a comparison of the Vibe GT, Mini Cooper, and VW Beattle Turbo S.I was a strange comparison to say the least. They loved the Vibes engine but complained about the "knotchy" shift motion.FYI.

I somehow still get this magazine, yet haven't seen a bill or paid anything to them in years.... Good article, but yes, odd comparisons. I guess it's the "Coolness" factor they were considering in this review.

It would seem that the reviewers were not as impartial as they should have been from the sound of it.

I still can't get over the fact that as of the Toronto Star, the Vibe is considered a station wagon or at best a high hatchback. What happened to the term Cross-Over Utility Vehicle (CUV)???

Be glad it is classified as a "Wagon". Insurance is much cheaper. I pay less with full coverage on my vibe, than I did with minimum coverage on my Saturn.Vibe - 720 for 6 monthes (full) Saturn - 850 for 6 months (minimum)

I didn't even consider that! Great, another point in the "Why the Vibe is So Cool" column.

Here in Sask, they consider the Vibe a wagon too. Cause that's what it is! What the heck is a CUV? Crossover to what? The December issue of Motor Trend has the comparison, if anyone if wants it in print. In the mag there is an interesting section which graphs out the acceleration force among the 3 vehicles. Basically, they put it in gear and floor it at 1000 rpm, and hang on. You can really tell when the Vibe GT hits the 2nd cam profile. The different technologies each vehicle employs to get the respectible output that they do is amazing.

Motor Trend is the most worthless piece of **** mag ever produced. Their spec charts have errors that even a middle schooler could catch. (removed) poor mag. For a real mag I read the one and only Car and Driver! Gotta love John Phillips!

Actually, I subscribe to Car and Driver, it's a good piece of work. (Although Phillips rubs me the wrong way at times). However, I still enjoy reading from various sources, Motor Trend included. It does have the occasional error, but every magazine will have their followers and enemies....

Got a chance to pick up (not purchase mind you) the latest Motor Trend. It is worth looking at the G force acceleration curves of the VW turbo, the mini supercharger and Vibe GT. It illustrates that the 2ZZ slows its acceleration rate between (if I remember correctly) 4 and 6 thousand rpm. That is why it has to be kept above 6 thousand for best results. Cool comparison. The gist of the test is that they are three different approaches to get the most out of sub 2 litre engines.

The one thing I got out of that article is that the Beetle was turbocharged and the Mini was supercharged yet the Vibe GT was only .5 sec slower than both. Add the factory blower to the base Vibe or a turbo to the Vibe GT and it would kick their butts.
