Unlike the majority of GM vehicles, the Vibe doesn't come with any sort of passive anti-theft system standard. Only way you'll have anti-theft is if the car was optioned that way, or if the dealer installed some sort of anti-theft system. If the latter is the case and you would like it removed, I would talk to the dealer, perhaps they could remove what they added...

Yeah, no passlock on the Vibe. If you have the factory alarm system, it's armed and disarmed by locking and unlocking the doors, respectively.

and nothing even goes off if you open the door from the inside through an open window after locking the doors with the key fob!

I think... I know I have the factory security and it does that. If you don't have a security light in one of the little spaces next to the hatch release (above the pocket to the left of the steering wheel), then you don't have security..and it probably won't set anything off.

I installed a remote starter on my vibe it doesn't have the upgraded security system and there was no problems in installing it. Just remove the lower cover of the steering wheel column. There is a key sense wire but, I did not need to ground it.

i have the optional security system and i also have a remote start. there is no key pass protection and you dont need a remote key box. if you really wanna test this go get a copy of your key made at the hardware store. it will start your car just fine
