Alright i have a CAI, borla Exhaust and i just got performance headers, and the JC Whitney Turbolator exhuast tip; is there anything anyone else can think of to gain MPGs

I lost significantly. Reality is, though, your car comes from the factory more or less tunes for optimum balance of fuel economy and performance.

I have a cosmo CAI does it have to be oiled like the K&N filter.

Yes Cosmo filter must be oiled. I have one.

I drive a county road to work (102 miles per day) and have tried several things to increase my mileage. Only one thing made a difference...cruising speed. 75 mph = 30 mpg, 65 mph = 34.5 mpg.Luckily it is a seldom traveled road during the time I use it, so I can pretty much drive whatever speed I want. I usually see only one or two cars the whole trip.

ever put up with the drive at 55 to see what effect that has?I think at one point MadBill said lowering the car would increase the aerodynamic efficiency some small amount.

I did a tankfull at 50mph and got 43mpg. I usually get 36mpg at 70mph average speed commuting.

Those are metric gallons, not american gallons, right?

Don't exceed what's on the sidewall, but higher tire pressure = less rolling resistance = higher mpg. I don't know how you guys seem to get such good gas mileage! I usually average about 20-25 mpg! I checked what I filled from full to how many miles I had on my trip-meter from the fillup before and had like 23 mpg! My gas mileage has always sucked, way below what I expected from the numbers on the dealer sticker! Don't know why, maybe Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, 19" rims and tires could be off and changing it a little, or the fact that I try to break the sound barrier on my 5 mile trip to and from work and at every acceleration! I guess that could have a negative effect on mpg.

the turbolator exhaust tip has a valve so that at low rpms where there is low exhaust pressure it stays in its shut position to keep the back pressure and increase torque, and it opens up as the pressure increases

in http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=3780, there was discussion of the fitch fuel catalyst, which I considered at one point but never had the cash to try it and then forgot about it till now. If you try it let us know if it has any effect.

Altitude. Less air pressure, less fuel, but also less power than at sea level. If you have a manual, shifting at lower rpm's when possible. Letting off the gas as early as possible and coasting before coming up to a stoplight or sign. Anytime you use your brakes, you're just wasting the fuel you used to accelerate in the first place. In other words, driving habits. Depending on how I drive my 4cyl, 5-speed Vue, I can go from 22mpg on one tank to 30mpg on the next.

i think when i get done with my Special forces Selection in Jan-Feb. i'm gonna try the fitch fuel catalyst, only thing i'm kinda worried about is if it drops into the gas tank and it actually lowers my gas mileage, can i take it out

I looked at the fitch thing, and it was a coulple small cylinders. You had to drop them in from the top of the tank because there's check valves and stuff in the filler neck that would keep the catalyst things from getting into the tank.The fuel tank is under the rear seat, that's where the fuel pump and fuel filter are. I guess if you wanted to take them out you could fish them out from the top. Can't remember if there's some info a bout accsing it in one fo the fule pump or fuel filter discussions.
