Did you put it on yourself or did you get someone else to do it for you? If you did yourself, how did you cut the exhaust pipe?Inder

I have used a hand cutter for exhaust pipes. It has four round cutting wheels and works like a pipe cutter. As you turn, you also tighten and the cutters cut the pipe. Makes a nice cut and works, bought it at Murrays and cut the cat off my wifes old car to put a straight pipe on it.

how much do they run?

Sorry I do not remember it was 3 years ago. It is a hand tool and I know did not cost much. If you have room a SawsAll (reciprocating saw) and a metal cutting blade would work too.

I'm gettin an exhaust for my car soon. Im getting the Magnaflow. I was just wondering what kind of tools people use to cut the pipe. Could a jigsaw work also, with a metal cutting blade?Inder

With a radius on the pipe and its outer diameter, that type of saw might have a hard time starting the cut. Plus the blade may not be long enough, at least on my jig saw they seem too small. JMO though...

Just look for a good place to have it done Inder if you cannot do it. I took my Vette to Midas to align one of my Vettes exhaust tips and the guy says something like $50, one hours labor. I said no way put the car on the ground. I said I would think just to heat the pipe and bend it maybe $10, the kid says OK wait here and after I finish up this car I will do it. Of course he pocketed the money and then when he took my car off the lift he drove it down to the end for that parking lot and back to me. He not do anything bad with it and I would have his (removed) if he did but he wanted to drive it! What an (removed)! Did not know where else to take it, I had my exhaust tips to install at the time and I did not want to leave it unattended.

I would rather do it myself, because, if it does mess up, I know how to fix it. If I have the shop do it, then if something goes wrong, I won't know what to do. That is why, almost any mod that I do, I would like to do it myself, unless it's like, getting internal motor work done to it.Inder

Make sure to check for leaks (indicated by soot) in a week or two. My clamped joint had a little leak so I added a second clamp. It seems to have sealed it up. Also, did you reset your ECU?

If you're talking about me, then no because I have not purchased it yet. But, other than that, I will keep an eye on that when I do install it Inder

I put a Borla exhaust on my 2003 Base model and it took me only about 15 minutes.it is a easy bolt on. the only thing is its a little expensive about $400 but it is a life time warranty so if you plan on keeping your vibe like me it will pay for itself in no time and it sounds great and runs better.

You can rent a pipe cutter or use a grinder with a cut-off blade as I did on my truck. A saws-all will work but it will shake the crap out of you and make a really rough cut.

Really? I was under the impression that the Borla was not a true cat-back exhaust because I know for a fact that the Magnaflow comes with a mid-pipe and I was told that the Borla did not come with the midpipe.Inder

I heard Redlava's setup. He's got everything I do, but he's got the Magnaflow. I liked the way it sounded. He had a slight rattle in it, but other than that, it was fine.Inder

The borla hooks up at the flange behind the cat two bolts and it is in they call it a cat back system unless you want to cut the pipe behind the cat but why would you want to do that and I think it sound real good.

Flowmaster cat-back here on the Vibe. I love the sound. Wanted to hear the magnaflow, but the place I was out was out of the one's for the Vibe at the time.

well all of this is nice to know I thought that the borla was a cat back system I still love it but I am going to get a AWD in Dec so maybe I will put a magnaflow on this one. My wife wants my 03 Vibe she loves it. I found that the best price so far was $395 for it on line is that a good price?

Yeah Rob, after hearing mine and Rasermon's Borla GT exhausts, I'm glad I bought Borla instead of Magnaflow like I was going to.It would make sense the Borla is cat-back since it start's after, or "in back of" the catylic converter...I dunno just how I interpret the word cat-back.

I love the sound of my Borla
