Quote »Cobalts to hit showrooms this weekPublished: Tue, Nov 9, 2004By DON SHILLINGVINDICATOR BUSINESS EDITORChevrolet officials hope to start shipping Cobalts to dealers this week, a company spokeswoman said. One local dealer said he expects his first Cobalts to arrive today, while another is expecting one Saturday. Two others said they weren't sure about delivery dates but expected cars to begin arriving later this week or next week.Chevrolet itself isn't certain of the day when Cobalts would begin leaving the General Motors complex in Lordstown, said Noreen Pratscher, a Chevrolet spokeswoman. Cars are going through final checks, and the company hopes to begin shipping this week, she said.It will take several weeks before enough cars are being produced to fill normal delivery schedules, she said. The Lordstown plant started producing cars for sale to the public Oct. 13 and has been storing them at the plant. Production volumes started low as workers got accustomed to the new design and new equipment.Greg Greenwood, owner of Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown, said a truckload of eight Cobalts is supposed to arrive today at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown.Eventually, the dealership will stock between 150 and 200 Cobalts.Barry Gonis, general manager of Spitzer Auto World in North Jackson, said his records show that he is to receive a Cobalt on Saturday. He is expecting seven cars to arrive in the first month and eventually to have an inventory of about 20.Officials at Sweeney Chevrolet in Boardman and Diane Sauer Chevrolet in Warren said they expect to be offering Cobalts either this week or next week.Sauer said interested shoppers have been stopping in during the past week hoping to see the car.Jeff Haag, Chevrolet marketing manager, said last month that the cars would begin arriving at dealers about Nov. 1.Getting it rightDealers said Monday, however, that they are pleased that GM is taking its time with the Cobalts and not rushing them from the plant."They want to make sure everything is in perfect condition," Gonis said.Article Source: http://www.vindy.com/featured/281875283881796.php

With a name like that it had better be tough.A salesman friend of mine said it is just a hopped up cavlier. But he also told me my Vibe couldn't take a monte carlo in a flat out race.So I don't always believe him.

I've already seen quite a few 4-door Cobalt's driving around the area, but mostly have Manufacturer plates. Still good to see a refreshed vehicle to replace the Cavalier. Looks like the Cobalt has alot of interest and is using more modern-technology overall.

We already got the Pontiac Pursut on the lot, they look like a mini G6 and not to bad actually, what upsets me is stock 140hp where as the Vibe keeps getting less and less...

They finally have a Cobalt in stock down at the dealer... LS sedan, I really like the color - can't remember what it is called, blue grey metallic something or other. I really like the looks of the sedan from the outside, more than I do the coupe (especially from the rear.)Inside, wow! For a ~$17,000 car it was impressive. Had the silver dash trim and the white faced gauges... Plus steering wheel controls for the radio, etc. GM did a really good job on the inside of this car!

It's lines are similar to a Cavalier, but it's a different car. It's powered by an Ecotec engine, and GM recently took it the the Bonneville Salt Flats, breaking over 200 MPH (If I remember correctly) on a somewhat mod'd one. They also used the 4 cylinder Ecotec engine to rocket a car to 309.1 MPH on the salt flats.

The other day I checked out the on-line inventory of my local Chevy dealer, and it said they had three on the lot. I went over to take a look, but there was none. Haven't even seen any Cobalts on the road. I did read a review of the Pontiac Pursuit recently. Nice vehicle, and yea, too bad we won't get it here.

I had a similar problem when the G6 came out...Pontiac.com said the local dealer had 3, went there, they only had 1. I was peeved.

I've noticed that too... Although when I just did a search at my dealer, it came up with the only Cobalt they had on the lot, the one I looked at the other day. So for for this case, it was 100% accurate. lolI guess it's going to be hit or miss - perhaps the dealer can sell a car, transfer it to another of their locations, or even do a dealer trade faster than the database is updated... ?

If it wasn't for the big bowtie on the front grill, you'd think it was a honda. We have about 5 of them on the lot right now and about 6 Pursuts and about 6 G6 approx since I didn't actually count.

I was kinda scratching my head about the "premium compact" term that's been thrown around about this car... I figured it was just going to be a warmed-over Cavalier. Which really wasn't that bad of a car in its time, but this one seems light years ahead of it in many ways... Especially from the inside, IMHO! Looks, well, "classy" to me, in the LS form that I looked at... What happened to GM? The G6 and Cobalt interiors for example just don't look GM-ish anymore. lolI think they may have something good going for them.... Good luck Chevrolet, and Pontiac - give us here in the States a Cobalt clone to replace the SF, you may sell one or two of 'em. Wishful thinking.

Anyone see that new Cobalt/Vette comercial? The new corvette and cobalt are bouncing a ball back and forth in an alley and then the corvette floors hit and hits the ball really hard.

I haven't seen the commercial, but I have heard about it. Ahh, as usual when I was in the shop this morning, this one salesman there I chat with was trying to sell me somethin'. I thought about seeing if he would be interested in letting me take the Cobalt for a spin, but I decided against it. I did bring home a brochure though.
