I wonder if insurance companies will take this information into consideration. It is definately an interesting study.http://www.newscientist.com/ho...afety

I've been in two accidents...one minor accident where I bumped a guy because he had no brakelights, and one where my best friend changed lanes right into me. When my best friend hit me, that's the one that caused the most damage, but there were no injuries. We were both in silver cars...LOL!

But now that I have a fresh cup of coffe in hand and have had another 5 minutes to think about it, my thoughts are that any bright or intense color that's different than most on the road will be seen more than a common color.Over here, silver is a popular car color, followed closely by black. My car is bright red and sticks out...I can always find it in a parking lot simply by scanning the lot for something red. So I'm guessing that if it sticks out that much to me, it probably does to others as well. But I'd hate to see the insurance companies latch on to something like this and start charging higher premiums based on color. I mean, color is so subjective...I'd hate to have to pay extra for driving a car simply because I like the color.

Hmmm.....I've heard of studies saying grayish colored cars are the worst because they blend into concrete, fog, and overcast skies. I had assumed silver fell into this category. White was always mentioned as one fo the safest colors.(I have a silver Vibe b/c I couldn't get the options I wanted in white, and all the other colors heat up to egg-frying temps in the summer sun. Guess that was a good thing!)

Some of our more lead-footed GenVibers might be better off with an asphalt gray car, preferably with a dotted white racing stripe: All the better to NOT be seen...
