My Matrix came with some cheap vinyl pin striping. I peeled it off as soon as I realized it wasn't painted on.

Yeah. On some cars, it looks half way decent, but I would never want it on my Vibe. I want to make it as clean as possible.Inder

Breaks up your eye and the painted on stripes always have these stupid ** star things at the end of the stripe. Like the sig of the stripper or something. *stars near the badges too sometimes. (Puking) They had their time but certainly not now.

As long as it works with the car's color/scheme, striping is fine. Hate seeing gold&silver striping on a red car (like some Matrixes...Matrices?).I think the 21st century style will be a hybrid between straight striping and body graphics. I'd love to have a Celtic braid stripe on mine if I could find someone with the skill to do it.And, while this may date me, I do have a thing for good ol' tape:'87 Chevrolet Celebrity Eurosport...good times!

Hey I had a 1987 Cavalier RS! 1st car, put 130K on it and traded it in to a dlr and they put it on their lot. Modded it, raced it 1/4 mile, commuted to college in it, showed it and got two thropies with it! It was well cared for and it showed.NO stripes though!

Well I am referring to either painted or taped stripes down the sides of the vehicle from front to back. Color is random but usually goes with the vehicle. Did yours come with that? Some dealers add it before selling from an after-market shop. Mine did not have them.

Off the Matrix Owners website; good pic of pinstriping. This is usually a dealer add-on and we see it lots in TX.http://www.matrixowners.com/mo...3.jpg

My dealer added ad ouble line pinstripe, one thin one thick...I peeled the thick one, leaving the thin one...I like it better like that, but I might end up just pulling them off completely in the end...

On most vehicles, I don't like pinstriping......but then again, all I can think about is the $100 or so the dealer tacked on for the $5 tape.

I voted for don't care. It looks ok on some vehicles especially ones that have a lot of side with no eye breaks, like trucks or vans. Most passenger cars nowadays are designed with bumps and ridges and things to catch your eye so they really don't look good and aren't necessary now.

I've added pin striping to every car I've had, with the exception of the Vibe. I considered adding some silver to my Neptune, but decided against it... I kinda like the clean look that it has without the stripes.

I can't really vote in the poll because my opinion is that it depends on what kind of pinstriping, what vehicle, and where the pinstriping is placed.I pinstripe the vehicles in my company's fleet, it really makes a world of difference on those vehicles. Our company owner insists that we stripe the vehicles. Our fleet is GM's Victory Red and we use a white double pinstripe---one stripe a bit thicker than the other. My Vibe came with a double pinstripe, one was charcoal colored, the other silver. Rule of thumb with pinstriping is that the pinstripe should match the main color of the interior. After I saw some of the other Neptune Vibes from other members with no pinstriping, I decided to peel my pinstripes off because I liked the clean look on the Vibe better. Well, I actually had to scrape the pinstripes off with a razor blade, but that's a whole story in itself. Some vehicles look really nice with a tastefully done pinstripe. I'm not really a fan of wild and crazy pinstriping. Also, probably 90% of pinstriping is done with vinyl tape. Usually, unless the car has been custom repainted, pinstripes are not painted on. If pinstripes are painted on, most body shops will want to clearcoat over them to protect them from being easily scratched or nicked.

Here's a link to an article written by someone who actually knew and worked with Kenny Howard, better known as Von Dutch, a grand master of pinstriping --> http://www.letterhead.com/arti...dutch/In 2003, I almost bought a PT Cruiser pinstriped the old fashioned way, but the clearcoat had worn off (if indeed there ever was any) and the stripes were quickly wearing away from numerous car washings. I bought a Vibe instead. It's still stripeless, but every now and then, I get a notion...
