iam not a smoker but i have the smokers package on my vibe....i was wondering if anyone else who has this option.if they have had any problems pulling the lighter out.mine pulls out the whole unit,even the piece of plastic that lights up green at nite.is this supose to do that.never had that before on any of my gm cars.the car is almost 3 years old and has 72,000kms, so no warranty to fix it...and that has never been used before.but should not do that, i think.

I have heard of this happenig to others, though I've been fortunate enough nto to have it happen to myself.Supposedly, warranted vehicles would get the entire assembly replaced...sinc eyours it out of warranty, I'd say your best bet is buy the part and swap it yourself, maybe you can find a cheapy on ebay.

theres a whole topic on this somewhere on here, search for it, i believe most people that took it to the dealer got it replaced

it does not bother me alot but it is a pain if i ever need to pull out the light..is this the quaility of all toyota products???? if it is i cant see why mags like comsumer reports rate toyota cars so high...wow alot of rattles and bugs for a great rated car.

Also, you said your car is almost 3 years old. That means you have an early model. Most vehicles are buggy in the first year or two they're on the market. Just ask other early model owners, like NSimkins and even myself...

The cell phone charger has yanked the whole thing out of mine on several occasions. Had the socket, retainer, lens, etc. all replaced under warranty with updated parts. I posted the info somewhere, I'll try to dig it up. Wasn't a sure fix, however. I still ended up yanking the socket out again after the new one was installed. Found what caused it though, it was due to me twisting the adapter in the socket. Found a way to work around that, if I twist the adapter, thus turning the socket, it can pull straight out. There is a certain position where it locks into place, I just have to turn the socket back in the other direction and it doesn't pull out. You may just want to try twisting it to see if that helps. (If anything I said makes any sense.)

An easy solution to this problem. The first time it happened like a week afte rI got the car so I took it to teh dealer. It happened again last month so I was playing with it. All you have to do it push it in and then tighten it (turn to the right) and it should be fine...that's what I did to mine and it's fixed.

the only thing is pontiac designed the interior but it is all made using toyota parts...the same parts that are in the corella....i know that there are bugs in a new car design, but my buddy has a 2004 matrix and he has alot of the same squeaks and rattles.....oh well still would not get rid of the car........love driving it though.

Merzbow's right on, that's what I do to keep my socket from pulling out of the dash. I knew you had to turn it, but couldn't remember which way. Give it a twist to the right, and you'll be fine. Just keep in mind, if you have something plugged in, you don't want to turn the plug, as that will cause the socket to become disengaged and it will come out with the plug when you remove it.

Although mine has a later build date because it was ordered.
