Wheel Woes

So I finally got my damaged wheel replaced today, having been driving on a spare for a week, I was looking forward to being on 4 real wheels...until I saw them put it on.First off, here's the new wheel:Looks all normal, right, NOT!Well, it's a universal wheel, bored for both 100 and 115 bolt patterns...When they mounted the wheel, it turns out the valve stem is out of place! My wheel cover won't line up so the valve stem comes up through the factory cutout...In addition, the rim appears to have been formed differently, because the wheel cover is "floating" above it...looks like CRAP!!!!Here's what it should look like:Note where the valve stem ended up:Guess I'm gonna keep looking for a better fit...So much for the $53 special from Discount Tire!

Update!Called Discount Tire, they were SO apologetic, said it didn't sound right. The guy I called said he'd look into it and get back to me first thing MOnday morning...if they determine the wheel was wrongly recommended by their website, they'll take it back...WOOO!

GMPD has a stock wheel for $57 shipped...not bad...if DT takes their wheel back, I might opt to do that instead...Thanks for the tip rasermon!

Update:DTD called me back today. Turns out some dope in the warehouse sent the wrong wheel. They UPSed me one today, I swap them when it comes in and send back the wrong one, of course, with no charge to me.Hopefully second time is the charm!

I looked at her Vibe and she has steelies and from what I know, the Vibe's tires are not low profile... I think she bent 2 rims herself on pot holes around Metro Detroit.IMO, 55-series tires ARE relatively low profile. Yeah, I realize there are people with 30 and 35-series tires and 22" rims out there, but mostly in warm climates, I hope!In terms of the overall trend, 55-series tires are MUCH lower profile than most tires were 20 years ago: I have a '84 with 175/70-13 tires (stock tires were 155/80-13's!) , a '96 with 215/65-15's, and the '03 Vibe with 205/55-16.AND, I've driven in metro Detroit! You folks should get FREE monster Firestone Wilderness off-road SUV tires from the highway department!
