I have an 04 GT with an Injen CAI, ever since I installed the CAI i have had a CEL, the code is P2441..."Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck Closed." Is there a way to fix this since the car will not pass inspection with the CEL. For the first few days after the install I had the two hoses going into and out of the VSV backwards, could I of damaged the VSV that way and could that be what is triggering the light? Any help would be great! Thanks

P2441 actually means it's "stuck open" and is most likely because the check valve was hooked up backwards. The blue end of the check valve should be connected to the throttle body. Just pull the ECU fuse for about a minute then plug it back in. This will clear the code.Another code to watch out for is the P2440 code - "...valve stuck CLOSED...". Most '04 2ZZ engines will get that code sooner or later after an intake installed. It's caused by the abscence of the stock vacuum hose plumbing and vsv with on stock airbox. In the future, wait for the air pump to stop spinning before you drive off on cold starts. It only takes 2 minutes and you'll hear the pump click and spool off. This will keep you from tripping that code.

I've had my 04 XRS/GT Injen CAI installed on my 05 GT for two months with no codes thrown until today, P2440 "Secondary Air Injection System Switching Valve Stuck OPEN".I didn't follow any instructions as the manufacturer's and those for 04's and below do not apply for the 05. I just plugged and/or switched vacuum lines to be connected where they were pulling vacuum from in the past. The emissions routing diagram under the hood was my best friend that day.I have some questions about a "ticking" I get after the engine is warmed up and seems louder at idle than with the throttle opened. Could this be the Secondary Air Pump? Is the pump located on the drivers side above the fog light? How critical is this valve being stuck open?

The ticking is from a valve... I forget the name of it. But since its not attached to the airbox and hanging or however you have left it is whats causing the noise. Its not doing any harm other then being annoying. Its just at an angle that it was not before. My wife's 03 GT ticked like a lil (removed) and annoyed me greatly with her TRD intake on there. My 04 base Vibe doesn't make that noise and I have the valve zip tied to one of the nearby lines.

All of my VSVs are screwed down to the body on fabricated aluminum brackets isolated with rubber bushings, so I don't think it's those valves. The EVAP system on the 05 GT is setup quite differently than previous years as it is not required to be moved or rerouted to the new intake. I believe it is fed directly to the throttle body.

LUVROK - Someone informed me back at the 1st Ohio that it is actually the sound that the Valve makes when it opens and closes so it really doesn't matter if it is hanging out or screwed down. I was kinda freaked out about it, cause I thought my lifters were tapping like they do on V8's. You shouldn't need to worry about it. PhillyVibeGT - you should be able to just clear the code. I've had that one pop a couple of times with my short Ram. I don't have the the lines plugged or hooked up to anything. you should be fine. I 100% agree with Mase. if you wait till the smog pump to quit, then start driving. I haven't thrown the code since.

Thanks for the info burkeyro.I didn't think anythign was being harmed as I can tell it isn't top end noise. I've heard lifter tap many times with my previous GM V8s and one of my AMC Jeep Cherokkes has a GM 2.8 V6 that started love tapping with 2k miles on a new long block. The code actually went away. It lasted two days and about 20 miles of driving. This morning the CEL was no longer lit. I did nothing intentionally to clear it.

Doh! Code 2440 was back this morning. For some reason it seems like it occurs on Mondays after it rains. Does anyone know which solenoid valve this is? Too many valves that look the same.
