My wife and I just bought a new Frosty 05 and just wanted to say "Hi".This is our 5th Pontiac. We have owned:1996 Grand Am SE1998 Grand Prix GT2000 Grand Prix GTP (the wife's)2000 Grand Prix GTP (mine) 2005 VibeI looked over some of the Threads and Topics on common problems of the Vibe (I now know about the poor paint quality lol) , but I did not see too much on the 05 Vibe's.Is there any problem area that I should watch for ?I "lurked" here for a few days before buying the Vibe. There is some GREAT info. here. I bought the car from Gunn Pontiac in San Antonio, TX and the service was quite good. Thanks to the info. posted here, I knew to check for the Shift Interlock Cover, those oval plugs that should be put back in the frame under the car, and the tire psi to make sure it was still not over inflated from transporting to the dealer. Everything was already put back in it's place, and the tires were properly inflated.Seems kind of hard to get a lot of info. on the 05's though. Much of the latest info. available is for the 04's. Even the GMAcessories.com (or whatever it is. ) website only lists items for 03's & 04's ??Again, nice website and we look forward to using it to help us learn more about our new Vibe.

welcome to Genvibe and hope you have a good time here, its a standard rule that new members post a pic of their car hahaanyway as for accessories, most of the 03-04 ones will fit the 05 from what I have seen. The Vibe was the first new GM that I owned,1989 Cavalier Z241996 Pontiac Sunfire GT2004 Pontiac Vibe

Welcome! You're right about the fact that there currently isn't too much info on the '05's. As far as the paint quality goes, I'm not sure if they've changed it or not with the new model. My step mom had an 03 frosty vibe and had it repainted before she sold it (she got a mercedes instead). I personally didn't think that her chips were noticable at all with the frosty finish. I, on the otherhand, have an abyss vibe and get my heart broken everytime i wash it. It took a couple of years for the info to even filter in about the 03's and 04's, but i have a feeling the 05 info will be much quicker. As far as I know, the only difference is external so all other info applies. And the rumor of the exterior department is that the only modifications being done are to 05 vibes. So, read well and take advantage of as much info as possible on here. It has helped me through SEVERAL installs and queries. Good luck here on the site and don't hesitate to start "modding" your car!!!

I think the most important thing about paint is just to be careful...don't wash it with abrasive things, use only car wash soap (no dish or laundry detergent) and wax it regularly. Paint chips are inevitable in any vehicle, it's just a matter of how easily and frequently they happen. My paint doesn't look all that bad, personally. I only have one rock chip on the hood, and the other stuff was all caused by idiots with large car doors and such. Post a pic of your Vibe! Come to a rally! Welcome to GVC!

Welcome! Always glad to see new members. I also have an '05. Mavrik is correct. Most of the parts for the 03-04 will fit our '05's.

Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Vibe, and congrats on the purchase! Don't worry about not finding a lot of 05-specific info yet. Much of the info here will apply to all model years.

Thanks for the replies. Not sure if they had "Frosty" in previous model years, and I don't know why, but the Pontiac website shows the 05 "Frosty" color to almost look kind of like a "silvery/grayish" color..........ummm, it's white. lolI'll post some pics after it gets cleaned up....it's filthy already since it's white.....and I picked out the whit...er I mean "Frosty" color..DOAH !!But it's just a stock looking 05 Frosty Vibe.......for now anyway. Coming from driving two modded GTP's straight into a base 1.8L 4cyl Automatic...... I won't be doing any kind of performance mods to the car, as no matter how many available aftermarket performance mods that I could currently get for it...... it would still not be anywhere near as fast as I an used to, so instead of spending all that $$ and still being disapointed I am going to focus on some easy appearance mods.I have seen some REALLY NICE sig. pics & avatar pics here of some of your Vibe's. My wife and I already have been to the "GrafixWerks" (sp) website and are going to order some overlay's for the "Pontiac" in the rear hatch as a start.Although I also think that some of you have a GREAT looking Vibe, a body kit and 18"'s ect.. are not in the picture. We traded in my car because we wanted a more practical/economical family car (we have 2 small children) than my 2DR modded GTP was. So now I will drive the wife's modded 4DR GTP most of the time, and she will drive the new Vibe since she works farther away from home and the gas mileage is much better on the Vibe. I can see already that we will be fighting over who gets to drive the Vibe on the weekends. lol

I used actual paint for the PONTIAC inlay on both my Vibe and Vette. Looks much better and longer lasting. $4 a can and some rubbing out.

I can tell you that the bug shield and the trailer hitch from previous years still fit the 2005. As do the Vents for the windows. I was just at grafxwerks today myself.

I thought about doing that......but my artisic ability to stay "in the lines" probably rivals that of of a 2yr old......ok,ok.....so even the 2yr old would probably do better than me, but you get the idea. lol

Did I read that right ? I didn't know you could tow anything with a Vibe......guess I should start reading the Owner's Manual again huh ?

You mask off the letters and beyond a little bit. Spray and then rub away what you do not want and where. Easy to do if you know how to do I suppose. I do not have a pic of my two otherwise I would post it.

Do read the manual. I started to read it during my campout in the Vibe last weekend. Found 2 buttons I didn't know I had. The window lockout one, and the overdrive one. And found a storage compartment I hadn't noticed, the sunglass sized one on the left leg area of the driver. And I am only half done. An I have owned the Vibe a month. And the push button to turn the light on between the visors, when you have moon and tunes. The Vibe will tow 1500lbs. The drivetite class one hitch is 2000lb weight limit. I put on a 3 bike xp folding hitch. Quite nice. Etrailer.com.I don't intend to pull anything, hence no wiring harness. But I don't want to scratch up my car. The hang on the back bike rack broke a piece of fiberglass off the hatch of my old saturn wagon. With one of the clips, when someone put is one not just right.

Welcome to the site, Frosty! I'm glad that another new member likes the site. Hang around for a while, we're kind of like a great big family.Quote, originally posted by Frosty05Vibe »Not sure if they had "Frosty" in previous model yearsYes, "Frosty" has been a color choice since the beginning of the first model year (2003). Other than the dropping of the color "Envy" (puke green) after the first half of the first model year, and the addition of "Fusion" (radioactive orange) for early 2004, there have been no color changes for the Vibe. I find that a bit surprising. I thought for sure that there would have been some new color introductions with the changes in the bodystyle for '05. I guess GM is saving that for the second generation Vibes that are rumored to hit the market for '06 or '07.

Now that is sort of not true. My Vibe is Moonstone. They dropped a darker silver to add the dark charcoal. Mine is catpaw dirt metalic color. Very close to the color they dropped, but a smidge lighter and a smidge of brown added. I say sort of not true since the colors are so close.
