GenVibe Campfire

In light of recent events in the forum...I move that we all have a moment of unification, and gather around the campfire to sing Kumbaya and be shiny, happy people. Drama never accomplishes anything good, so let's just all get along. Who else is in?

Let's just keep this from becoming a "Blazing Saddles" campfire, ok? No beans with those weenies!

Guess I missed whatever happened. But I am going camping in my Vibe tomorrow, with the boy scouts. I bought an Eclipse 2 tent, that makes the end of the vibe into an entrance, sort of like a tent. So I am pulling my sleeping bag up by that tiny fire up there. Getting the trailer hitch put on tonight. It is in my car, along with the bike rack. The windows are tinted. I am ready to go. Should I go buy marshy mellows and throw in my auto harp? *Debi goes to find out what she missed*

I'm not entirely clued in either, Debi. 'Course I've only been on here a month so far. I've found it to a great site in general, though. Hope it keeps up....

Hey Kari,Are you a browncoat? (i.e. fan of "firefly" for those not knowing).Using the term "shiny" tends to give us away! Anyone else fans here at GV? John

Great, I'll bring my acoustic also. Camping is my favorite thing as long as a beach is nearby. The closest thing to paradise without being in a tropcal area I got the corn on the cob and lighter fluid to keep this baby blazin...let's roll

Camping in the Vibe was wonderful. We were at Hammonasset, on the Connecticut shore. 22 Boy Scouts. 7 Troop leaders (1 who snores). Me and my Vibe, with an Explorer 2 (little tenty type thing hanging off the back). Moonroof cover open to see stars, warm sleeping bag, self-inflating mat, passenger seat folded flat, pillow. Campfire, S'mores, Capture the flag, etc. And flush toliets. What more could you want. And the Drawtite trailer hitch does fit the 2005 Vibe. Yes!! The weld nuts are still there. And Hidden Hitch's 3 bike fold down XP bike rack fits in the hitch nicely, and folds down and holds a tarp in place nicely on the ground, at the end of your Vibe, while you are camping. Life was good. *I do know this was a virtual campfire, it just worked out that I was going camping in my Vibe this week*

Ooooh! Just caught this thread. Ok, I'll bring the battery powered radio so I can tune in to right wing extremist talk radio while sitting by the fire! Oh wait, that might not be such a good idea. Scratch that. But I'll bring a case of beer and get blitzed with drunken and the other guys!

so when you toast marshmallows, do you get them to a uniform golden brown, or let catch fire and get all black and blistered?

Actually, I purposely catch them on fire because I like them crispy. I cook my marshmallows fast...just stick them in the center of the fire, wait til they flare up, take it out and put the fire out and there you go, done.

Oh, that is just all kinds of wrong.I like them toasted just perfectly golden. It is an art. But there is room for all kinds. *Debi goes off to cut some nice green sticks for marshmallow toasting*

My mom likes hers golden brown too...she's got the art pretty much perfected. But they just aren't as good that way.

No fortunately, and some of them were pretty irritating. Our troop has 19, YES 19 new scouts, that crossed over. 11 year olds. HELP!!!!!!!! So feel free to come run them over. I will sacrifice Phillip for the cause. And my Vibe. I can get a new one. I have $250 deductible. But you have to put the Clay Aiken sticker and license plate holder back on the new Vibe I get, personally. While I am playing Inivisible at full volume. And only 1 person there new how to toast a marshmallow without burning it to a crisp. Waaaaa. A forgottten art. He was as old as I am.

but they aren't done till even the very center is soft and the only thing keeping it from falling off the stick is the harder outer skin, but if you dont hurry it's going to pull through that and splat on the ground.

There IS most assuredly a place reserved for you in Heaven!Going moderately off-topic...I was a Cub Scout leader for 4 years, but I wouldn't let my son cross over from Webelos. The local Boy Scout leader INSISTED on 'boy led' Troop leadership. The 14 and 15-year-old troop leaders let the 11-12-13-year-old kids run wild, beat on and (try to) kill each other while the adults sat around and drank coffee... And that was just at the indoor troop meeting at a local church!BTW: My idea of 'roughing it' is a hotel room with only one color TV and no remote control!!!

I put in my application for sainthood, but surprisingly no one has gotten back to me. Our troop was boy lead. And I think it still is, but the new leader of the past 2 years is much better than the old guard. They had run the troop for 20 years. NO women leaders, etc. Now it is good. I always wanted to be a boy scout. It gives me an excuse to buy toys for my Vibe.

I love burning it to blackness. Once you eat the outer crisp, you can let the inside cool off that's still on the stick and then burn the inside to a crisp as well!!!!! It's like twice the fun
