I was stuck at work 55 miles from home in May of '80, it was pretty weird. At 12 noon it was dark out because of all the ash. we had to snow shovel it off the roofs to keep them from caving in under the weight. My car (72 Camero) stayed in the parking lot for about two weeks, before they would let us drive our personal vehicle home. Had to go home in a bus, wearing gogles and a resperator.

Mount St. Helens has erupted again. The mountain started spewing a gigantic cloud of ash around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening that is estimated to be 36,000 feet high.

Couldn't see it from my fraternity as far as I could tell which is right by the UW (Unniversity of Washington) so it couldn't have been too bad hehe
