Powder Coating

Hey there guys/gals,I have question. I was thinkin bout powder coating my wheels. And I was wondering, what kind of places do this kind of stuff?Inder

You just gave me an idea. I want to powder coat my roof rails black. So let me know if you find anyplaces that can do that.

look up powder-coating in the phone book. I powder-coated my roof rails, they look great.

Thanks cherry. I'll check that out. And Paul, you gave me an idea too, I think I'm gonna powder coat my roof rails gunmetal. That would sooo good. Guess we'll have to see to find out. BUt you can do it first, see how they come out then I'll do mine.Inder

powder-coating the aluminum rails is a plus because you can paint them any color if you don't like the initial powder-coat. here is what mine looks like.

I'm gonna steal your d*mn springs scherry! Don't worry, this spring I'll be at the same height your at Very quickly switching topics, did the dealership give you any sh*t about your springs voiding the warentee?ok sorry back on topic...what should I search under in the book, and about how long will this process take? Will I have to leave the car there for some rediculous amount of time?

Will I have to leave the car there for some rediculous amount of time?no, not my springs!! the dealer didn't void anything on my warranty. in the telephone book here in indiana I looked up powder coating in the yellow pages, it might also be under coatings - protective. hope this helps. I took the rails off and took them in. I used to have a how to on taking the rails off on this site.

man, i found out how much it's gonna cost to get my wheels powder coated. $80 bucks a wheel. Can't afford that right now . Inder

Who did you call? I have some 17's I am planning on using next summer but they need to be refinished. Did the company have a website?

it's called J & M Coating Inc. They're in Hartland, MI. I wouldn't pay that much for powder coating. Cuz I could buy some new wheels for that much if I was get some cheap ones.Inder

You might also want to check out some custom motorcycle shops. They usually do frame and wheel powdercoating. It's worth a shot.Also, check around because prices can vary widely. $80 per wheel sounds really high.
