Hello! I recently posted a topic based on frontal damage to the paint or clear coat on my Vibe.
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=12617I took my car in yesterday to my dealer, and showed my salesman the damage. He agreed that it wasn't right, so he sent me over to the dealer's body shop. The guy at the shop tried some rubbing compound, didn't work, so he just stood there and said "gotta repaint it!" So on Oct. 12, I'm gettin the nose of the car repainted, and hopefully the clearcoat will be thicker or at least better this time! I'm goin to see if they'll re-clearcoat my hood as there are scratches on it too, but so far I'm happy!

Hey thorntcl! Well, they did something to the front anyways... It looked shiny and new when I picked up my car, but when a co-worker and I looked closer, we noticed that you could still see the pitting in my original coat (but under the new coat of paint and clearcoat). The workorder said that they sanded and repainted/clearcoated the front, but if that was done, you shouldn't be able to see where the damage was... So, I'm thinkin that they either sanded just the clearcoat off where the damage was, and not the paint, or they didnt' sand it at all... I took it into my salesman, and he told me to take it back to the paint shop. I'm not sure if this is what to expect from a warranty job, but I WAS planning on buying out my lease in 4 years, but if it looks like that....? I'll keep you updated!
