It has been nearly 4 years that I have been in the Air Force, and thanks to elections, cuts are being made to the military's budget. Normally that means taking reserve people off of active status and sending them home, but this year the Air Force is 25,000 people too large. That means anyone up for re-enlistment wont be allowed to. This includes me. Come May 21st, 2005, I'm jobless. Been Trying to find a job back home in Michigan, but no luck as of yet.Military clearance and experience don't go very far I guess.....Any other military types on here getting the Axe?

I found it really easy to find a job with the military in my resume. I guess it just depends where you apply.

I'm looking for any kind of job relating to electrical troubleshooting, repair, installation, ect. I should have an associate degree by the time I get out. 12 hour shifts for 3.5 years, and deployments kept me out of classes. Perhaps this is why I am having difficulty finding decent pay. Avionics Guidance & Control SystemsSecurity clearance is as required by afsc

If you're interested in moving to Madison, WI I may be able to help you find a job in our repair dept. I work in the engineering dept at Ultratec, Inc. We design, manufacture, and repair all of our equipment here in Madison. I'm not sure if they are hiring in repairs right now, but if you have your associates degree in electronics you'd have a pretty good shot at a position here. There are lots of other electronics companies in Madison too. My brother-in-law works for Artesyn Technologies and he said they are hiring for a bunch of different positions right now.

Unfortunately our elec building is in Kalamazoo and the elec repairs is in Minnesota. However we do have a Technical Assistance dept for both software and hardtool help, it is a call center. If your resume is ready and or you are interested, let me know.

yes, in 97 when they told my dad he'd have to go to bosnia for 6 mos, he decided to retire. with his length of service, education, experience, and exemplary military record, he got a job right away. he had job offers in the midwest and alaska! of course we wanted to move back to alaska so he took the job here! if you're willing to relocate then midwest and west coast are great places to apply!

Thank you all for your responses. You are all very kind. Right now, both my grand-dad and my father are having serious health problems, so that is the main reason I'm looking to move back home to Michigan. I'm on leave now to help both of them out.My resume is not ready as of yet, but will be once I return. I had been putting it off becuase I thought I was a shoe-in for re-enlistment according to all my superiors. How good I am at my job has nothing to do with them giving me the boot I'm afraid.
