A/C temp cable binding

I've got a strange little quirk that appeared out of nowhere... When you turn the dial from cold to hot, it feels normal. OTOH, when you're going back toward cold, between full cold and halfway, the knob becomes harder to turn. Then it reaches a point where it will turn back down to the full cold position easily. Almost like something is in a bind or sticking somewhere.I believe I have traced the problem down to the damper itself (if that's the correct term for the white thingy under the dash) where the cable attaches. With the cable off, it still does the same thing when turning the damper, so I don't really think it is the cable itself..Weird. Guess I'll schedule an appointment to have it looked at... Anyone else notice this/have any ideas?

I can't say I have any ideas, but I've had the same thing happen with the airflow selector. If I leave it on the dashpanel setting too long, it will stick there and not want to move. It would seem to be something with the damper.

Woo hoo, I fixed it without going to the dealer. Found that my ham radio antenna cable that runs nearby was in the way of the mechanism. Why it still acted strange with the cable off, I don't know... Routed the cable away from the mechanism and all is well...

glad you got it fixed, and without having to go to the dealer, especially if it was something that you caused.
