No the first 2 interviews were over the phone. I have to go to Macon for this one only. And they are reimbursing me for all costs.

It would have been a lot of back and forth traveling otherwise. Cannot turn down an all expense paid trip for the interview either. I know its not a vacation, but its still on their tab! Best of luck!

That's what I plan on doing after my interview and on Saturday, I have a few places lined up to look at. Check out this one, this is the front runner. We are looking for a townhouse so we have a garage. http://www.apartmentguide.com/...=ovTb

wow, cheap! hope the pay is good too... but i guess if cost of living is low, then pay can be low too... but hopefully pay is a little better so you get some extra cash!

lol! well that's good! it would take a lot to move me from my job. they just told me they were giving my base salary an increase. of course that just makes it harder to reach my commission level, but hey! no prob. won't be taxed as high either.

Good luck on your interview! Hope all goes well. And that place looks very nice! I've been looking more closely into the San Diego/Santee area for myself and I'm liking it better and better the more I look. I am considering transferring to San Diego State University to finish my undergrad business management degree. I found some apartments that I can afford and checked on mapquest to see how close to the school it would be. Found out it was about 9 miles and a 13 minute commute to and from school. Looking better all the time.Over Easter break this weekend, I discovered that my sister and her fiance were already considering moving to San Diego in about a year and a half and that her fiance almost put in an application to SDSU for another grad degree program there! He and I have been buddies since I was in 10th grade, so I'd have a school buddy there with me and someone to go golfing with! Plus, if my sis goes too after they get married, then I'd have family there too. If we both move there, I'm thinking that my mom and stepdad may relocate to the area as well, since they are starting to complain more about the weather in Pittsburgh and it has been harder and harder for them to find work here. I know my mom could find an excellent paying job in her career field there easily. My stepdad might even be able to find work nearby.I also found info that suggests that CA has no state or local wage taxes. That would be a big plus too if that is true. I plan to fly there and spend 3-4 days in the area this summer to see if I like it first hand.

Wow, you have a plan too! Hope all works out, that would be 3 more younger people moving out of Pittsburgh.

I'm gonna try and take as many as I can with me, too! Could start something like a "Pittsburgh economic depression rescue program" that takes all of the talented and educated young adults out of Pittsburgh and sends them to other parts of the country where they are appreciated and can actually make a decent life for themselves!

Come to Virginia. If you are thinking about Geargia then you must not mind the hot & brutally humid summers.....VA is a little cooler and not full of rednecks (well that's not really true )

The tax structure in VA is insane. What's this crap I hear that they make you pay a tax on your car every 6 months? Screw that.

Well, Here I am in Georgia. The drive yesterday was hell. 13.5 hours in all. Might I add that the Vibe was comfy as all get up. So my interview was at 7:30 this morning. It went well but it's between me and 4 other people, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. The apartments down here are amazing. And the area is really nice once you get outside of the main highway. Lots of fishing and shopping, for the soon to be wife and myself (the fishing more for my enjoyment though). The only complaint I have is that the dial up connection for my laptop is only running at 28.8. Well, time to take a nap. PEACE!

First thing - good luck in getting the job.Now for the small world story. I live in Atlanta now but spent my middle school and high school years in Macon. My younger brother, a fellow Vibe owner also, moved back after college and actually lives in the Hampton Park complex. If you see a fusion Vibe with a St. George's Cross sticker on the back window tell the driver (Iain) his brother says hello!btw: if you do get the job - don't worry about that dial-up - Hampton Park is served by high speed cable.

The apartment that is really looking good to me has high speed internet available, which is nice. One thing that I was curios about, I have only seen 2 other vibes on the entire trip, both on the Atlanta bypass. I see them all over the place near home. WEIRD. By the way, 780 miles - 2.25 tanks of gas. THANK YOU VIBE!

Well, it happened. I got the "you suck" letter yesterday. So I am stuck in this crap job, and in western PA. Oh well, I guess you can't win them all, I did get a free mini-vacation though.

well, you may want to consider that the job market in those areas aren't the best. perhaps hawaii???

That would be a nightmare moving to Hawaii. Getting all my stuff there and also getting the cars there. I wouldn't mind it but I would spend more moving than I would for a house.

hmm. guess i was used to the places that paid for your moves. and i'm not talking military. TX Instruments were paying for our move (mine and the ex) from alaska to there and the military was paying for our from VA to TX. we had left a lot of our things and my car up in AK since it was a temporary location. and when my family moved back up to AK, his new company paid for it as well. and for the moves i didn't have the co pay for, i only had a few things and brought most of it on the plane w/ me. paid extra for the extra boxes, but $200 total for 10 dish packs is pretty damn good!

Quote, originally posted by trdvibe »well, you may want to consider that the job market in those areas aren't the best. perhaps hawaii???It really depends on what part of the South he is looking at and what type of job he wants, but as an overall, you are correct. There are areas, such as Atlanta, Raleigh/Durham, and such, that are booming. The headquarters for some of the big companies are in the South ... i.e. Fed Ex - Memphis, TN; Coca Cola - Atlanta, GA; Home Depot - Atlanta, GA; Porter-Cable Power Tools - Jackson, TN; Miliken Textiles - South Carolina; and on and on and on - there are many more.Poopy - what kind of job are you looking for? Nevermind, I just found it in an earlier posting. You should try applying to places like Fed Ex. The area that the computer center is located in here is BEAUTIFUL. If you would like to know more, I live in that area, I will gladly IM you more info. You should also try places like Home Depot and companies like that. The guy that lives behind me lost his job after 9-11. He now works for the local school distrct as a systems analyzer. You might want to take a look at the school districts in the area you want to live, they have some good jobs and have problems finding qualified people. Here in the South, it is difficult for these places to find qualified people locally. Try also looking at the Universities/Colleges in the desired area, you never know what you might find.
