Other very strange things are happening at my end. I was unable to post (either to reply or create a new topic). The board would just keep saying my username or password were invalid wwhenever I tried to post. I logged out and logged back in again, under the same username and password, and then I was able to post again. Hmmmm...

When doing a search for keyword(s), the search engine can not find any thread that did not already exist prior to the down time.

They just upgraded the database last night in preparation for the forum upgrade. I believe now the next step is to get ZeroForum in here to perform the upgrade.

Yep. Unfortunately the way it works is that ZeroForum logs onto our servers to install the software. So if they find anything they need changed, they email us, we fix it, email them back, and then wait 2-3 days before they try again. So it is slow going. But it's in their court now and I can provide more attention to this now that I'm back from SEMA, so... hopefully soon!Mike K.

However, the old trick of using "*" to search for more than the most recent 60 topics or whatnot doesn't work anymore.

Uploading an image works now, but I can't edit the post to make the image "in line" When I submit the edit, the image tag gets stripped. However, I can get an image to show up inline if the image url is not on forums.genvibe.com/zerofileFor example, here's my avatar which is on forums.genvibe.com/zeroavatar/but if the image url is located in forums.genvibe.com/zerofile, the [IMG] and [/IMG] tags and the image URL get stripped from the post.?? (bacchus beat me to it)

Not sure why it won't let you use the IMG tags. I'll add this to the list of questions about certain little features I have going.

Thread ratings seem to have disappeared from the forum indexes, along with the "Rate this thread" option at the bottom of each thread page. Also, the "Genvibe tip of the week" is gone, all I get up there now is the icon User ratings are gone, but that doesn't matter since everyone was always 100% anyway. (edit - they are still there, don't know why I didn't see them )On raginfish's note, Search seems to be ignoring the single * search because it's less than three characters, Is * a special case that can be set?

Glad to see rate this thread gone. Found it to be excess clutter. Just my feelings.User ratings appear on my end...you're still @ 100%!

I meant to say "duh I feel pretty stupid for reporting that the user ratings were gone when they are actually still there. " @ me, @ you. I certainly should have been sure of their disappearance before I mentioned it. Can't figure out why I bothered to mention it anyway, as they are less useful than the thread ratings, since everyone is always 100%I used the thread ratings sometimes. Since nobody else ever really seemed to, I could rate a thread 5 stars and that would make it stand out. Used that as a way to highlight some that I was watching, made it easier to find them when they dropped down in the forum index. Also used it to tag ones that I thought were useful, to highlight them to fend off recurring new threads on existing topics. OK if they are gone, but didn't know if they were dropped on purpose.

As I gradually become aware of the changes since the recent major fixes/updates (Are they summarized anywhere?), I notice that ticking off the box for "Email me when a reply is made" no longer works. Did I miss something about this, is it a coincident problem with my computer, or what?

We've contacted ZeroForum on this issue and will await their fix.

Is the current auto image display the final solution or an interim workaround?===========================================================3/27/2004 EDITjust to write them down without bumping the threadhere are problems I know of: in-line uploaded images If you upload an image to the forum, you can't edit your post to show the image in-line with the post. You can try, but when you submit the editted post, the [IMG] [/IMG] tags and everything between them is stripped from the post. You can still show pics inline if the URL to the image does not point to the forums. animated avatars If you upload an avatar, the forum software modifies the file, even if it does not need to resize it to be within the 70x70 limit. This causes any animation to be stripped from the avatar. Search search ignores any words 3 characters or less. This means you can't search for threads on ECU, CEL, AEM, gas, XM, EFI, amp, etc, etcEdit 6/28/2004Display uploaded images in line: http://support.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=344"Image tags linking to the ZeroForum server are not allowed for security reasons. Malicious users have used them to clear the authentication cookies of other members."So they just turned it off instead of figuring out a way to make it work while preventing "malicious users" from tossing cookiesanimated avatars http://support.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=333"The software converts the images after they are uploaded. They are always altered. The files are loaded and re-saved by an internal image library. This is done to verify that the images are actually VALID image files, and not just binary data uploaded by a malicious user. The library often changes and re-analyzes the image palette and changes the general structure of the image. Still testing and tweaking alot of very little things behind the scenes but overall progress is moving. I'll try to get an update here when we do anything more substantial.
