I change my 03 Base's oil every 10-12,000 miles. I use Mobil1 fully synthetic oil and filter and usually put about 20,000 miles on it per year, mostly highway driving. We bought the car in Dec 08 with 65K miles on it and just turned over 150,000 last month. It might lose/burn 1/2 qt in 10,000 miles.

Every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil and premium-quality filter, too.

Good humor here as always with" some justifiable" reasoning. Back to the original topic though. What would be the MAXIMUM length of time, regardless of mileage" for an oil change to take place? I got yelled at by several folks in the automotive world when I told them I went SEVEN years between oil changes on my 22 year old F-150 (300 cid inline 6 cylinder) even though it was a mere 6500 miles or so during that time. I'm coming up on two years between oil changes on my 2009 Vibe Gt but it only got driven 3000 miles since it's last oil change. I plan on driving it to the GenVibe summer meet in Pontiac and maybe a few more road trips so it will see some road time finally. I'm always in a commercial vehicle so my personal ones don't see much regular driving. At worst I may put it off until sometime in 2016 when it will be closer to the recommended interval. FYI .. I'm using Mobil1 synthetic oil.

I go about 5-7k on my 2zz depending how hard I have run it. My Chevy Trailblazer has gone about 9k on the last one 150k miles on that truck. I decided to see how the OLM was working.
I have an alternative to Blackstone if anyone cares to try. Its 25 bucks for PC's.

You can send whatever oil you wish does not need to be an Amsoil product. They are independent.

Choose your point of view.
Enjoy changing your oil 'just because': twice a year, before winter and before summer
Generally accepted practice: once a year
Let it ride: Probably doesn't matter, get a blackstone test after the 2 year mark and go by what they say.
