(51 here, going on 22.)Back in the day, 440's weren't Hemis. The Hemi's were the 426's with hemispherical combustion chambers. The 440's were wedge-heads as I recall, more closely related to the 318's and 383's. But I've slept since then!On the Vibe note, I tried a GT, but I live in a small town, and I could never find a road long enough to hit 7,000 RPM, even in 1st, so I settled for a Base with automatic. My spousal unit prefers it that way, too.

According to GM, the average Vibe owner is 38 (but that doesn't mean the average age of Gen Vibbers!)

turned 48 this month and my vibe was my present to myself. Traded my 2k Eldo for it due to many problems, and wanted a car that could easily haul my golf clubs and a few friends. Only thing i will miss from caddy was the heated seats

I, too was curious as to the age of the target customer and the sales manager at the dealership where I purchased our Vibe was so kind as to share the sales manual data with me. There in print, the target age was stated as 25- 35. I was not surprised, but I did tell him that it seems like the demographics might be split, as the Vibe would appeal to the younger set to haul their skiing, bikes, and camping equipment, but would appeal equally to us "empty nesters" for exactly the same reasons- to haul our skiis, camping gear, and mountain bikes. My wife and I are both 59, but the sales manager said I was too old to drive it, but my wife was not so I would have to let her drive it!! Ha Ha!! No doubt the Vibe is not large enough for the Soccer Mom set, thank goodness or we would not be able to find one to buy.

Another thought from the "gray haired" set. My wife had an original brand new 1964 VW Beetle and later we had a 71 Squareback. Her Cousin still has her 69 Karmann Ghia. She was driving a Chevy Prizm, ane we had several Prizms over the years. I just got rid of the 94 with 175K miles on it and still running great and just passed the State Inspection, although it was getting pretty ugly. My youngest son is driving a 97 Geo Prizm I purchased new to commute with and it now has 125K on it- runs great. Another son is driving a 2001 Prizm and I am driving the 2002 Prizm. My wife gets the new Vibe. We do have a passion for small cars- economical and fun to drive. All the Prizms are standards but the Vibe is an auto but we just could not find a manual in the time constraint needed. The other selling point is the excellent quality from the dedicated folks at NUMMI and Toyota. I give a great deal of credit to the excellent longevity of these vehicles isdue to their Toyota heritage.

It was nice yesterday meeting some of you in Fenton and seeing all you young folks who bought an old geezer's car. Are you mature beyond your years or just plain old already? I'll be 62 in August, so send those birthday presents!

This poll only shows the ages of Vibe owners that are on GenVive. I suspect that a lot of "older" owners are not as much in to the internet as the average GenVibe participant. Pontiac ought to have data on the age breakdown. I read where they were surprised to see so many "older" buyers as the Vibe was targeted to a younger audience.

32 here....and new to the Vibe and this site. I have been lookin to buy a Vibe since I first saw them at the Detroit auto show a few years back. I talked to my wife and she would say "Why the heck would you want a 'WAGON'". I just sorta laughed and told her how practical one would be since we have 2 kids. I forgot to mention to her that the REAL reason I wanted a Vibe.... Now I am jumping head long into the mods.

I don't really count as a owner yet, since it is on order, but I turn 50 in 10 days. Helping to balance out the other end of the curve. Guess what I wanted for my birthday? Actually the curve seems to look like this _AA_A_A_AA_ Without the crossbars of course.

My 20 year old stepson was appalled that I bought this vehicle. He informed me the Vibe was being marketed "to capture the youth market" and what was I doing buying one at my age?! I'm 45 and love my Vibe.

There's a famous quote in the car industry, which I'll paraphrase here:"You CAN sell an old man a young man's car, but you CAN'T sell a young man an old man's car."Congrats, Pontiac, on doing the possible!EDIT(now 52.5, going on 22)
